Nick drove us to the tailgate. When I stepped out of my apartment I was surprised to find a beautiful white jeep parked outside. He laughed at how in awe I was. It was beautiful.
"How can you afford this?" I asked hoping into the passenger seat.
"My parents gave it to me when I graduated from high school. I came here on a full ride so the money they had saved for my college tuition turned into a jeep."
"Wow must be nice. College fund and everything. Where is it?" I said as I started looking for something in his compartment.
"Where's what?"
"Your silver spoon."
Nick's laugh echoed through the truck. He took a hand and pushed me lightly on my shoulder.
"Oh. You think you're funny huh?"
"I'm joking. But its really nice."
We were close to campus when my gaze lingered on him for a minute. Once he turned his head I moved and tried to play off the smile that I had across my face. It was amazing to me how by just sitting there and simply driving he looked very attractive. I also wondered on why I hadn't noticed him before. All these years on campus and I barely had met him. I barely knew him but he was interesting to me. His outgoing charisma and positivity attracted me to him.
"Don't we need drinks?"
He reached behind him and grabbed a bottle of patron.
"Do you like this?"
"I've never had it."
"Try it."
I took the bottle and chugged it back.
"Ew ew ew ew. That is disgusting."
"You weren't suppose to drink that much."
We ended up parking close to the tailgate and I could already see everyone tumbling and dancing.
"Wait. We have to come up with like a background of this." I said as I pointed my finger to me and him.
"We can just make something up as we go."
"No. Honestly I think I'm going to come clean tonight. It's too much. What if I confuse myself and I say the wrong thing."
"You're going to come clean?" His tone sounded sad. I shrugged. I looked out his window and I saw Patricia looking around, probably for me.
"Look there she is."
"Why is she so into your business. Sometimes I feel like its excessive."
"We went to high school together and she dated my brother. She was my best friend but when we came to college she kind of stopped talking to me and then after..."
I looked away trying to avoid the subject.
"After what?"
"Can she see me?" I asked because Patricia was waving to what had seemed to me.
"I think she can. It's tinted but not as much as the back windows."
"She's waving at us. And now she's walking over here. Wow. Great."
"Don't worry about her, what were you saying?"
"Nothing she stopped talking to me for a while and then she became like overprotective like something a sister would do and well now I don't know she feels as if she needs to take care of me or worry about me."
