As Jim walked down the long hallway of his house he felt a strange presence. Seven o’clock and pitch black. Thunder around him trying to say hello. He knew he was alone but somehow felt he was being watched. He didn’t like it. The old floorboards creaked beneath his feet, adding to the atmosphere. He heard something, like a laugh. Now he was getting worried, He reached his door to his bedroom, but was afraid to open it, afraid to even reach out for the door handle in the almost this pitch black. His forehead was sweating, tickling his nose. He reached out for the wooden door knob and turned the handle, his hand almost slipping because of his sweat in his palm.

The door let out a large scream as if it was being tortured, making his heart beat a million miles faster than what it already did. He slowly reached around the corner of the wooden wall to find the light switch, and he did. The light flicked for a split second and then went out. Power outage. What he saw in the split second the light was on was so terrifying it almost killed him. The only thing that kept him from making a move was the shear amount of adrenaline rushing through his body. He ran.

He ran. He ran as fast as he could back down the hallway and out onto the road, He could see the moon illuminating the night sky. Jim lived in a house on the outskirts of Grassbourne. Grassboure is a small town with only about 20 people living here, and is famous for nothing. Blink and you’ll miss it.

Jim looked around, it wasn’t here, but the front door was wide open. Jim was about to run back to the front door to close it when he saw it, the thing. Its eyes glowing yellow in the darkness, He decided to run to his car. He pulled at his car handle only to realise it was locked, didn’t trust his neighbours. Right now Jim was freaking out, His heart wanting to escape from his chest. He grabbed a rock, planning to smash his cars window, only to realise this thing was coming closer, slowly but surely. So he threw it at the monster.

The monster stood six feet tall with large glowing eyes. It had four long legs, its torso the colour of midnight. Foam drooling from its ferocious mouth, its teeth like swords ready to rip you open. Its slow walk turned into a sprint as the rock hit the monster right between the eyes. Jim was worried. So he ran for his front door.

The monster running at full speed found it hard to change its direction as Jim dodged it. The monster stunk as if it’s been bathing in a pool of rubbish. He ran for the front door knowing the monster would take time to re-coordinate. On the inside of the front door hung his keys, above an antique sideboard. So he stumbled around to grab the car keys, when he only just realise that if he struck the window before that he would still need the keys to be able to drive the car.  It’s the adrenaline I’m telling you.

The monster now it’s gained its wits ran at the front door. Jim grabbed the vase of the top of the sideboard and got ready to throw it at this thing. He saw its head poke through the door and look both ways, when it saw him it smiled. Jim smashed the vase over its head and bolted around him back to his car.

His Hands fumbling as he tried to shove the key in the lock, why does this always happen in the worst situations? He got it in as he felt a warm breath on his shoulder, the next thing he felt was the monster clawing his back. It felt like a million pieces of barbed wire scraping across him. He screamed, and jumped in the car, slamming the door. His back burning like someone poured molten lava over his back. He shoved the key into the keyhole and turned it, the car let out a loud roar and hiss but didn’t start.
