Niko slowly creeped through this dark new forest. He shuddered at the thought of the night time. Too dark. Too dark. Too dark. He repeated in his mind. If this forest was dark in the day. What would it look like in the night.
The scent of dogs filled his nose. He shot looks from side to side his brown eyes glowing in the dark forest. Niko was white and black he had no camouflage. As he walked he kept looking around everywhere as the leaves cracked beneath his paws. It was fall and all the leaves fell from the trees. The bright orange leaves would probably blow his cover of entering this forest. The leaves where too loud but Niko couldn't do anything about that.
He knew he was coming closer to the dogs. The scent came closer and closer as he crept through the forest. On the inside he was freaking out and knew the dogs would sense that. He tried to stand up straight to look confident but he knew the dogs would know that he is diffident and not confident. He lowered his head and frowned.
Suddenly he saw a movement in the bushes his eyes got wide and the scent of another dog came the closest it had ever been. It was only one dog but yet Niko knew it was going to be bigger and stronger then him. Niko was small for a border collie.
The strange dog came out of the bush snarling at Niko then stopped as soon as she saw him. She tilted her head and walked up to Niko sniffing him and taking in his scent. Niko stepped back, the dog was about as tall as him but definitely had a stronger build. The dog noticed Niko was scared and she relaxed.
Niko observed the dog, she had brown and black fur, black around her face and her feet. All the other fur was sort of a golden brown. She had beautiful hazel eyes that glowed in the dark forest.
"What are you doing here?", the female whispered looking around. She walked closer to Niko.
Niko looked at the female dog. "Oh, just walking through I guess.", he sat down after he answered her.
"Your not supposed to be here." The dog gulped, "Axel will kill ya." She whispered trying only to be heard by Niko.
Niko looked around "Axel? Who's Axel.", he whispered knowing now that he had to be quiet.
"He's Alpha.", she looked Niko straight in the eyes.
"And you are..?", Niko tilted his head asking in a quiet voice. Not quite whispering just quiet.
The female looked at him for a second. "The names Hera. You?"
"Niko." He looked around then looked at the female.
Suddenly Hera shot her head in the direction of a noise coming from the bush she hid out in. A fully black dog came out. His eyes where golden yellow. The dog had a strong build and he was large. His fur was curly and medium in length. The dog showed his teeth and barked at Hera. Hera moved out of his way and pinned her ears back looking at Niko. The dog sniffed Niko and snarled showing his large white teeth. Nikos ears pinned back and his tail fell in between his legs.
"What not going to say anything you little coward?" The dog barked
"Axel cut it out he's scared." Hera barked. She glared at Axel and growled. She stopped right away when Axel looked at her with his golden eyes.
"I don't care Hera, you stupid bitch." He shook his head, "You always do this." He then looked back at Niko. "You wanna come with us?" He said angrily.
Niko looked at Hera who gave him a small scared nod. He quickly looked back at Axel and nodded. "Yes sir."
Axel nodded and turned around and started walking the other way. Hera walked close to Niko as they walked to what these dogs called their camp. The forest was quickly getting darker and darker as the sun quickly set. Axel had his tail down but his ears were straight up. Hera looked straight ahead. He hadn't known Hera for long but he knew she was different. There was just something about that dog but he couldn't put his paw on it.
