Trigger warning: this poem talks about how an ED controls a person.

Her sense of smell was heightened
Her mouth salivated
At the smell of the aroma she loved
But her mind hated

The cupcakes oh so inviting
Made her want to grab one
But her mind wouldn't stop chanting
'You already weigh a ton'

She ran an extra mile that evening
To burn off the coffee she had let herself have
She tried to shut off her conscious screaming
When did it get so bad?

She remembers when she ate what she liked
And liked what she ate
When her meal consisted of more than supplements
And she craved for more than just petty comments.

She looked at her mirror and smiled
Her eyes were sunken and bones bulging
Her body screamed stop
Her mind urged just a little more

She wish she could stop
Dreamt of freedom from her mind
Hoped to live the way she liked
And not allow the calories control her life
