A walk to hell and back

Woop! Back home I guess, today was uneventful but tiri-- wait, tiring? No! Not tiring! Darwin never got tired, ofcourse not!

Time to see my lovelies!

"I have arrivedddddd!" I sang as usual, and I hear soft noises coming from the corner in the cage. Smiling widely, I peered in.

"Brownie!" I picked him up. He kept scurrying around my palms, sniffling and slowly snuggling down in the end. He then stared at me with his beady black eyes. I somehow knew he loved me a lot just by looking at his eyes, and ofcourse I loved him more!

Brownie was brown. Like, well, a brownie! Hence the name!

I rocked him in my palms as he blinked a few times, then he grew restless again, scurrying around my palms.

Brownie was like me, he couldn't stay still at all! He's very playful though, and I loved that. I sat down on my bed and put him there, watching him go up and down the wave of my blanket, and I burst out laughing.

Oh, Brownie! You're so funny.

Brownie, the restless and funny.

I'll let him play with the blankets for now, I can't play favorites! I have two more fluffy balls of fur to hold in my palms!

I took out the second person to have the misfortune to be held by my dirty and dry hands.

"Cherry!" I squealed. Or was it him? Either way we were both squealing. I was always excited to see Cherry, he had a red nose! A RED NOSE!

He was like brownie, but with white spots all over. And, A RED NOSE!

Some people have commented that I should have named him Rudolph. Nu! No way! How could such an adorable little thing be named something ridiculous like Rudolph??

I sighed. He was less excited than Brownie, yes, but his tiny paws were moving all over my palms! It was rather ticklish, ofcourse, but it felt nice and warm.

Cherry, the nice and warm.

I set Cherry down next to Brownie. They both looked at each other, and, well, let's just say they were kind of having a rivalry.

Over me. About me. Ofcourse.

They both rushed to me and whimpered loudly, making me let out a loud sigh. This was not good.

"Behave." I said sternly. They both looked at me with those beady black eyes, and I felt my heart twisting.

"I love you both so muchhh, I can't pick favorites now, can I?" I smiled softly. They quietened down. Hamsters were quite smart, the ones I had understood me more than a lot of humans ever did.

A somber mood spread around me. The usual warmth gone, I could finally relax and be myself. I rubbed my lips with my finger; they hurt from too much smiling.

I always thought, I was so unlucky. Such an ungrateful little brat I am. They all loved me! They all adored me! And yet, none knew me. None but two.

And add three of my hamsters.

And add one more... Who was no more.

A tear slid down my eyes. How long could I keep this going, this cheerful facade? I thought I would forget everything, I thought everyone would forget everything.

Yet

Their eyes were full of pity, despite showing delight in seeing me

Ofcourse they were, after all that had happened

I am STRONG, I don't need your unwanted pity, get it out!
