Stand still,

Listen, can you not hear it?

The chime of bells, or the song of winds

The melody of the earth

Or sound of blooming love?

Are you too blind to notice, the pain, and sorrow of time?

Or is it just, that you cannot bear

To be alone again, left behind,

When your loved once time has stopped?

Standing on the grassy hill, an explosion of colors painted the night sky.
What a beautiful sight, I thought.

I gazed in amazement as another one exploded. Ryuu held my hand as we continued to watch the end of the fireworks festival. 'Pop' and there goes the last one, ending with a fiery display of red, green, blue, violet, and white. The sky began to darken without the fireworks to light it up. Until I saw a star I knew all to well.

Brighter than all the rest, it twinkles and shines, lighting up a small portion of the sky. It was them, the lovers I met a long time ago. I bowed to them. Suddenly I felt a light push on my back that almost made me trip and fall to the ground.
I looked behind me and saw Ryuu with a smile on his face.

"Why are you looking so melancholy Chiharu?" He asked, "And what's with the bow?"

He traced my gaze to the start. "What a bright star!" He exclaimed, "It reminds me of that one story my Haha told me, you know the one about the prince and the princess who couldn't be with each other so they ran away."

I laughed quietly. "Ryuu baka. They didn't run away." Confused, he turned to me. "Heika and Hime-sama knew they couldn't escape so they died together, holding each other in an eternal embrace as the knife took away their lives."

Ryuu did not understand how I knew this but didn't want to press me, so he answered with a simple 'oh'. I sighed, thinking of those two. I don't understand it. Can you love someone so much that you would take your own life to be with them, leave everything behind? I don't know there whole story, but as their blood entwined with each other soaked my roots, I felt their feelings.

Undying love, I think that's what people called it.

'....'

What was that?

'La, la, la,la,la,la'

What is that sound?

I abruptly stood up. Ryuu was startled for a bit then relaxed, noticing it was me. He asks me where I was going and I reply with a brief shrug. I walked down the hill, trying to appear calm until I reached the border of the nearby forest. Then I break into a run, I weave through clumps of trees following the sound.

Where have I heard it before, that melody, that voice, it's right on the tip of my tongue, who is it. If only I could remember. I stopped.

This place........ I stood still, shocked at what I was seeing. A giant tree on top of a hill, over looking a sparkling cerulean blue lake, illuminated by the full moon. I remembered.

That song. This place. This is the place where they met, the first humans I encountered. The same humans whose blood soaked my roots.

Return, return,

To the place where it started.

That voice!

Return, return,

Return everything to light.

It can't be!

And sleep under,

The starry sky.

I turned around.

Return everything to time.

A woman with long silver hair cascading down her form, brilliant emerald orbs that could look deep into ones soul. And a smile, that is like the moon, calm and gentle.
