Now that Elisa saw that the potion worked it was time to combine it with the light sword. She got Philbert to bring her the light sword from where he had hidden it.
Elisa place the light sword on the table, then poured the potion onto the glowing blade, turning it an aqua color.
"Is that gonna do it?" Philbert asked hopefully.
"I hope so," Elisa replied.
"Great, when are we going after the nightwalker?" Philbert asked.
Elisa stared at him. "When am I going after the nightwalker," she corrected Philbert. "This is something I have to do alone."
Philbert looked hurt. 'B-but I want to come, too,' he protested.
"I know you do," Elisa said. "But this is dangerous and I'm not sure if the potion is even going to work even with the light sword."
"It's work on Pogo," Philbert declared, gesturing to Pogo who sat in a corner, scooping up a big fat bug and shoved it into her mouth.
"Transforming a frog is much easier than transforming a nightwalker," Elisa explained. "There is still a chance the potion won't work. The nightwalker feed on life energy and I don't want anything to happen to you."
"Hey, I saved you from that nightwalker," Philbert pointed out.
"That you did," Elisa admitted.
"Besides, I can't let you go alone," Philbert said. "You need someone watching your back."
That reminded Elisa of something Mary would say. She has been thinking of her and the rest of her friends a lot. She wondered what they would do if they were there at the moment. Sophie would no doubt be concentrating on their next move. Nightmare is brooding in her dark way. Lizzie is making one of her one-liners to lift everyone's spirit. Then there was Mary who would be just urging them on with her positivity. Then there was Dart the Shadow Witch who was still searching for the light sword.
"The nightwalker isn't our only problem," Elisa informed Philbert. "I'm also being hunted by a shadow witch."
"Oh, I'm not afraid of any old shadow witch," Philbert said with a chuckle.
"You don't want to mess with this one," Elisa warned. " She's dangerous. "
"She's no match for the three of us," Philbert assured her.
Elisa raised one eyebrow. "The THREE of us?"
Philbert nodded his large head. "Yeah, me, you, and Pogo."
Now Elisa knew she was going alone. Having Philbert with her would have made things tough enough, but the frog girl would need to be watched constantly. The problem was that she have met people like Philbert before. They see it as a chance for adventure but are unaware of the danger involved. Elisa knew that if she tells him no that would not be the end of it. She had to make sure he did not try to follow her. Though Philbert has been nothing but kind to her she had to make a tough decision
"Yes, Philbert, you can come," Elisa lied. "And Pogo, too."
The ogre's grey face brightened. "You mean It?"
Elisa chewed on her lower lip. "Sure."
Philbert threw his log-size arms around Elisa and embraced her in a hug. "You won't regret this," he cheered as he lifted the young witch off her feet and spun her around.
"Hey, put me down," Elisa cried as she struggled in Philbert's grasp.
Philbert put Elisa back down. "Sorry," he said sheepishly. "I guess I've got carried away."
"I guess you have," Elisa said agreed.
Philbert gazed over to Pogo. "Did you hear that, Pogo?" he called. "We're going with Elisa!"
Pogo seemed more interested in catching and eating bugs than what Philbert was saying.
"We can leave for the nightwalker in the morning," Elisa said as she felt the sweat forming on her forehead. She really hated being forced to lie.
