Chapter 1

Mazikeen

Or mazzikim meaning harmful spirit, that's my name. That's what my mother decided to name me before she died, she passed after giving birth. I have no hard feelings, I dont know why she did it and I dont care, I'm sure she had a reason to give me that name and I'm sure I would never trully know.

Bang!

Run. Keep going.

Bang! Bang!

Dont look back.

Bang!

Stick to the dark.
Try not to fall.

My legs want to give out, my lung are burning but I have to keep moving, I have to keep going.

I cant let him catch up.

He cant have us, he wont have us.

Keep moving, keep runing. I can feel the sweat rolling down my back I can see black dots start to form in my vision. Lack of oxygen, that's not good. Theres a burning on my chest a sing I should stop but I'm not ready too I'm almost there I can see the door I can make it I have too.

I drop in front of the door breathing heavy. Hadeon runs up next to me and lays by my side. Hadeon is my pit his been with me for a couple of months gives me a sense of security, I've been living on the outside of a small town of California for six months now, I like it here its peaceful it's a good place to bring my angles,  I hope I can see them soon. I decide to get up and head to town to do some shopping and get everything in order for the week. I try not to go into town often to much noise, there are man everywhere and I don't quite enjoy that.

After getting ready I get Hadeon and myself in the car and head to town. I got Hadeon surtified as a service dog for my anxiety so I take him everywhere. We arrive at the grocery store and start to do our shopping him as always right by my side calm and collected head held high looking scary  keeping everyone away just how I like it. We round a corner and theres a child crying in a cart his mother ignoring him theres a worker stoking shelfs with cans of food and I start to feel overwhelmed.

Shut up. Shut up. Shut up

Keep walking. Keep your head down.

Dont let him see you cry, he enjoys it to much. Get to the room check on them just get to the room they need you. God just move! My legs are shaking, palms sweating. My head hurt  he pulled my hair to hard I can only see from one eye my throught hurts. But he ordered me to go to my room I need to focus. To many stairs I dont think I'll make it but I have to if not it will be worst.

Bark! Bark!

I look to my side and find I am now sitting on the floor some one is trying to get to me but Hadeon is in the way standing guard ready to attack at my command.

I focus on him trying to get myself under control, trying to get my breathing back to normal.

"Hey Miss, you ok."

Dont look up, dont look up. They'll eventually leave me alone.

Grrrrr.

I need to get Hadeon to settle down his scaring people there are children here but my throught is dry my vision is still blurry. I lift my hand up and lay it on his head.

"Sit." I whisper so low I fear he wont hear me but his ears perk up at the sound of my voice and he sits by my side still keeping an eye out for any threat.

I hear footsteps come and stop in front of me I see small combat boots and look up to se a blond girl smiling at me.

"Hey you need help getting out of here, I can walk you to your car if you want? Help you pay for your things or not what ever you think is best." 

I look around her and notice 2 men standing a couple of feet away I look back at her not saying a word.

"Dont mind them, they wont come near. Plus you have this adorable fella here to keep you safe if they tried." I look at Hadeon and back at her. Shes waiting for a reply but I cant seem to say much. Hadeon isn't looking at them so I know theres no threat. It takes me a minute to compose my self and stand.

"Uh no, sorry I'm fine now. I can handle it my self."

"You sure sweetheart I dont mind helping."

"I'm not done."

"I'll walk with you, my name is Linda."

"Mazikeen" we walk in silence for a few minutes and I'm thankful I had really composed my self fully it usually takes me a couple of minutes.

"That's a very different name."

"Yeah, I guess. Couldn't really say I've heard it my whole life " she laughs a little.

"That's a good one, you new in town?"

"Yeah I've only been here a few months."

"Really? I've never seen you before."

" I try to stick to myself."

"I see, well me and my family are gonna have a barbecue tomorrow night if you have nothing to do I can use some friends myself."

She gives me her number and says has some things to do and walks away I pay for my items and head home ready for a bath dinner and my bed.

My brain needs the rest.

After getting in bed I grab a book and start to read I hear my phone ring on the night stand and see a message from an unknown number.

Unknown:
Hey!

Me:
Who is this?

Unknown:
What do you mean?
Didnt save my number?
Its Linda!

Me:
Oh hey, what's up?

Linda:
Barbecue tomorrow start at noon. Wear a bathing suit if you want theres gonna be a swimming pool.

Me:
Ooookaaayyy

Linda:
If you do decide to come.

Me:
Sure

And with that the conversation ends I lay in bed with the lights off and Hadeo at my side.
