My eyes locked onto the boy in front of me, Zack. He was the heir to the crown of the Black Empire, the boy I loved with all I had.
But today, he's not my lover.
He's your enemy
I quietly growled at the voice in my head.
"I'll always love you. Even though this White and Black Empire bullshit. I'll love you." Zack quietly murmured, absentmindedly running his fingers through my hair, my head against his chest.
We were laying in a meadow, a beautiful, small stretch of land in the middle of a small forest that separated the White Empire and Black Empire, the only place we could go where we wouldn't be seen. "I'll always love you too." I murmured back, looking up to him.
He was so attractive. His strong jawline, his soft pale lips, his bright blue eyes, everything about him was perfect. I heard a siren blare off in the distance, what my father deemed as a signal of 10 minutes until curfew for the White Empire.
I carefully stood up, and held out my hands to pull Zack up. As soon as he stood up, he engulfed me in a tight hug, my face pressed against his chest. "Please never leave me.." he softly whispered, his lips just brushing the top of my head. "I never w-..."
"We are gathered here today as brothers and sisters not bound by fate, but by the understanding that our survival lies only in harmony!"
My father's and leader of the Black Empire's loud voices mixed together, interrupting my thoughts. I snarled and gripped the scythe tighter, the white vein-like patterns blazing bright, almost blindingly so. The arched blade came a solid foot above my head, the steel seemed cleaner and more pristine than it ever had to me, as it hasn't been used to draw blood in battle for at least 3 years.
The worn wood felt smooth in my hands, it felt like my fingers belonged wrapped around it. I shifted it so the scythe crossed my chest, and watched as everyone from the Black Empire tensed up. I glanced over at my father and fear washed over me as he gave me the tiniest of nods.
It should be Andy saying these words...
Voices in my head quietly whispered collectively about how I would just fuck this up and never would I even be able to compare to how great Andy was. At the thought of Andy, my fear dissipated almost instantaneously to aggression, he wouldn't want my entire world to cave because he left. I glared over at Zack and I saw him smirk in return. My anger flared up again as I yelled out the following words:
"Will you carry the torch, and be the keeper of the light!?"
There was a pause, my words echoing throughout the empty space. After a few moments of silence, placed there for drama, Zack responded, in a loud, deep growl:
"OR WILL YOU LET DARKNESS FALL??"
Almost instantly, I repeated, in a scream:
"Or will you let darkness fall??"
As soon as those words left my lips, both the Black Empire and the White Empire charged at each other, and our yells could be heard for miles. I swung my scythe violently and with an amount of power that even surprised me, my thirst for blood seemingly unquenchable. I wanted to cause them pain. I wanted to inflict physical pain on others as the equivalent of the emotional pain I felt.
Blood. I want to see blood.
White flame flew at record speed from the tips of my fingers of my left hand, directed at some unfortunate member of the Black Empire. I saw Zacks eyes widen for a moment and then narrow at me, black flame flying from his fingertips at some member of the White Empire.
My empire.
I let out another scream and impaled more people, and set them aflame, my actions now being fueled by pure rage, and before I knew it, me and Zack had blades at each others throats.
All was deathly silent, I felt Zack's sword pressing firmly against the skin on my neck, he could kill me at any given moment. But then again, I had my scythe pressed up against his throat.
I could behead him if I wished. My eyes locked onto his, he tried to remain strong, but I could see his anger and energy slowly fading out of his beautiful blue eyes, which were lined attractively in a small amount of eyeliner, and I even saw the glowing black vein patterns on his arms slowly fading back to a normal flesh tone and I felt every emotion I had slowly draining as well, my blazing white veins and my scythe softly fading.
At the exact same time, we dropped our weapons to our sides and turned on our heels, walking in long strides away from each other.
