Tears clouded my vision slightly as I looked over to my father, and he shook his head in disapproval. He had the White Empire's flag in his hands, white background, black cog and crown. We stood in silence momentarily, and suddenly, I heard the voice of the Black Empire's leader ring out,
"You fucking love her, don't you??" I glanced over at Zack, his father, whom I am required to address as Leader Brenton, had Zack's shirt tightly in his fist, and Leader was screaming at Zack, who was cowering.
I glanced at my father and he gave me a look of pure disgust. No matter how upset he was at me, we'd always share that one thing, the thing that bound the entire White Empire together, a universal hatred for the utter disrespect and unruliness the Black Empire showed.
"I'll choose who the fuck you marry!" Leader shouted directly in Zack's face, and threw the poor guy to the ground. It took a lot of self control to not run over to Zack and pick him off the ground, and tell him that I loved him, but I knew if I did that, I'd suffer severe consequences.
Leader Brenton wasn't always this brutal, but he too lost his son, Dave. He became a drunk afterwards, in an attempt to stitch the wounds the lost of his son left.
I looked back to my father and he softly shook his head at me. "I'm sorry, Avacyn... You can't be with that boy, it's absolutely forbidden." His green eyes, that I inherited, showed absolute sadness. I knew I shouldn't be upset at him, he didn't make the rules.
I looked over my fathers shoulder, at the entire White Empire. People dressed completely in white, everyone carefully slid off their white masks, they had ones that completely covered their faces. I saw looks of everything from anger, to confusion, and even some pity.
I sighed softly and shook my head, looking longingly over to Zack. His father had some poor girl, dressed in all black, by the wrist and pushed her towards Zack. She had straight, chocolate brown hair that fell just below her shoulders, and curves that I hella longed for. She was beautiful, she'd be great for Zack, I could tell.
She'll be better for Zack.
Way better than you could ever hope to be.
Waay better than you could hope to be.
He'll be happier with her.
You probably never even meant anything to him.

My hand went to my left temple, in an attempt to at least quiet the voices. I used to just hear a whisper every once in a while, but they talked more after mom died and once Andy disappeared, it got really really bad. It was like actual people talking in my head.
My father looked at me, deep concern flashing before his green eyes. I waved a hand at him, a silent reassurance that I was fine. He made a grab for my hand, but something snapped in me and I stumbled back, my left hand going back to my temple, and my right one gripping my scythe tightly. White rippled violently throughout my vision. My father took one step towards me, concern deep in his eyes, clouded by a slight tinge of fear, and I have no idea why, but I ran. I ran, and I ran far.
I saw a mountain off in the distance, as it rose high above the tops of the thick forest of pine trees. I decided quickly that it was my destination, as I recall Andy always taking me there when I was upset.
My feet slammed strongly along the forest floor, pine tree branches scratching at my face, arms, and legs, my attention only on getting to the top of that mountain. The thing that always surprised me was that neither the White nor the Black Empire ever claimed said mountain. It was a part of a beautiful landscape, and it oversaw both Empires.
As I was running, easily navigating the familiar forest, I realized the voices were practically screaming at me, telling me to jump once I got to the mountain top.
I was tempted, if it would get the damn voices to shut up for once. I stopped suddenly at the base of the mountain and shook my head violently at the thought.
"Suicide? "
"Really?"
"Don't be an idiot."
What. I spun around ridiculously fast. I swear to fucking God I heard Andy say that.
"Andy?" I called out, my voice cracking and echoing between the trees. Tears began to cloud my vision, I needed Andy, I swear I heard his voice. The weird thing was that after I pinned his voice, all the other voices in my head were deathly silent, and it scared me, honestly.
"I'm not around you, Avacyn."
Andy. I knew that was Andy. Not a single doubt that was Andy's voice.
"I'm in your head, dumbass."
Yep. I said to myself as I sighed. That's Andy. And he's still a douche.
"Calling me names? Now that's not very friendly, Ave. I've been gone for fucking millennia and you still call me a douche? I feel the love, I guess I'll just go.."
As Andy talked, his voice got softer as if he was fading away and I screamed "Andrew Leo, do NOT fucking leave me!"
"Calm yourself."
I was still scared, his voice seemed to be getting softer, fading away. I inhaled to scream again when he interrupted me.
"Cyn, you need to listen-"
He sounded terribly frantic.
"I can't talk a whole lot longer. But you need to trust me. You're different, they know, I was different too, then they got me, Zack, he's different too, so is his brother, they also got Dave, we're working together but we're not strong enough to get away, we need you guys, but you guys need to protect yourselves, understand? Don't let them get either of you, Avacyn. But please, please come help us."
His voice broke and he started sobbing.
"Please don't let them get you-"
His voice faded and I was left in silence, terrible, awful, crippling silence
