Armin had always been picked on becuase he was different. He wasn't like other teenage boys; who enjoyed sports and drooled over girl's who seemingly portayed the look of a barbie doll. The blonde would much rather study, or read, or watch anime and play video-games. Most of the bullying being physical; the blonde's small stature wasn't much help. However, he did have a way with words.
For about the third time that week Armin had overslept, so he was in a haste to leave the small apartment building in which he barely could afford with his low wadge job part time job. Slipping on skinny jeans, he digged through his drawers, pulling out a worn out Sleeping With Sirens tee. Not even bothering to find socks, he slipped on his maroon colored Vans, promptly slipping his messanger bag over his shoulder and heading out the door.
As the boy nearly sprinted down the sidewalk, his nimble fingers moved to his thick, messy blonde locks, a single hair tie in their grasp. He briskly wrapped the tie around the mass of hair in his grasp, pulling it up in a messy ponytail, several stray strands of gold whisking about the crisp autumn air.
Armin didn't really enjoy school. Sure, he loved learning, and had always been a straight A student. But the bullying made it miserable. However, there was one thing that made it bearable, and that was his best friend Eren. Eren and Armin had been close as long as Armin could remember, and Eren was really all Armin had. Armin's grandpa had died over a year ago, and as far as parents go he had never even met them.
As the blonde continued his walk along the sidewalk he heard sudden footsteps behind him, causing a prolonged fear to flood his heart. His pace quickened to a near sprint, adrenaline pumping through his veins. 'Nonononono' he thought, hoping he would lose whoever was following him. Though soon enough he felt a cold hand coil around his neck, raising him up and slamming his face into the concrete, causing a loud and heartwrenching scream to escape the blonde's lips. The thick dark liquid slowly oozed from his mouth, the taste of salt mixed with metal making him want to vomit.
As he lay there on the ground, a single tear slid down from his warm, oceanic eyes, followed by another one, and another one, until soon a steady stream of salty tears flowed it's way down his pale cheek. Though despite the pain Armin attempted to stand, only to be knocked down again as a hard kick was planted on his back.
"No one told you to move, faggot!" The stranger yelled, laughing hysterically. He then kicked Armin several more times, causing him scream even louder. Though momentarily another set of footsteps approached the two, and the stranger immediatley looked up, running off in almost an instant.
"Armin?!" A familiar voice called. Eren. Though Armin didn't have the energy to say anything. He felt as if he were falling. He reached a single arm up as the concerned face of Eren appeared above him. Though suddenly his vision began to fade. His arms dropped to his sides and he soon realized that he couldn't hear anything. And he soon lost all conciousness.
"Armin! Armin wake up!"
The blonde slowly awoke to familiar voice of his beloved friend; his vibrant blue eyes slowly fluttering open, gazing into the concered eyes of Eren.
"Hey Eren.." The blonde whispered, his voice rather weak and hushed. A sigh of releif escaped the brunette's lips as he saw his friend slowly awaken, his heart flooding with reassurance.
"I'm glad you're okay.." Eren said softly, though it was obvious he was still worried. He wrapped his tone arms around the frail blonde, giving him a gentle hug, causing Armin to smile. After awhile, he reluctantly pulled away. Armin was curious as to why Eren was so worried, due to the fact that this sort of thing happened quite often; though he pushed the thought aside.
Armin attempted to sit up, a sharp pain in his back persuaded him not to. He lay there a moment trying to contemplate a way to get up. Soon enough he rolled on his badly bruised stomach, slowly struggling to his feet. Though his knees buckled together, causing him to collapse onto the concrete, and Eren to wince.
"Hey.." Eren whispered, kneeling down next to Armin, gently pulling him to his feet. "Take it easy... okay?"
Armin gave a small nod, though Armin wasn't sure how much more he could take. Still; he was sure of one thing. That he would try... for Eren.
