A morning inside,
As the sun shines in the window,
I wake up with a bleary eyes and a dry smile.
Not completely awake
And not completely asleep
I go downstairs
To start the day afresh.
Into the kitchen
My little toes make padding noises
I sneak so that I don't awaken anyone.
I take out bread,
Sliced of course
And put it in the toaster
Easy, right?
Minutes go by in forgetful blurs
I try to remember
Egg whites not yolks
Go into the pan
A sudden smell meets the air
A smokey scent
And suddenly the fire alarm
Dear oh dear
The toast
I remember as I try to take it out
I'm rewarded with a burnt finger
And two pieces of wood
No longer bread
Oh dear oh dear
No more making breakfast
I say as I give up
Another smell of smoke comes to the air
Oh dear oh dear
Not again
As I rush towards the eggs
