The walls of the bedroom are painted grey. The main wall, that the queen size bed rest on, is colored in a darker grey. One window, that faces the bed, has the morning dew sunrise shining through the white long curtains. The white bed covers were arranged in a neat and pristine way. The pillows nested against the headboard, pillows arranged from big to small. The hallway, painted grey, had picture frames hanging of friends, family, and pets. A door slightly opened, leading into the bathroom. The hallway connecting into the living room, where a couch lays on the wooden floors with accent chairs beside it. A flat-screen TV placed in the dark grey wall. A light grey wall dividing the living room from the kitchen and dining room. Jungle wood dining table placed in the middle of the room with matching chairs. The table setting is passed on top of a light blue ivory rug. On the wall, there's a flat arch doorway leading into the warm, blue kitchen with white countertops. The kitchen includes cabinets and a kitchen island, a refrigerator on the opposite side of the sink and dishwasher. Another flat arch doorway is aligned across, entering the living room from the other side.

Within the kitchen, coffee was being made by the owner of this house. She finished filling up the water in the machine and pushed the brew button. She walked toward a cabinet filled with white plates, bowls, and a variety of mugs. A single plate was taken and placed on top of the island. In another cabinet on the other side holds a pan that will be in need. The sound of the refrigerator opening to reveal the food, the cracking of hard plastic of the egg container echoed as a hand firmly grasped them. Sounds of metal clanking onto the gas stove, the heat of the stove raising to the correct temperature. A window above the sink shining sunlight into the kitchen. The smell of freshly cooked season eggs and coffee ran around the room. Breakfast was made, now to eat it. This was done at the dining table. There's already a laptop and a notebook waiting for its user. Once seated down, she opened up her laptop to millions of unread emails. She ate while reading these emails, one email caught her attention. Animal shelter, they were looking for some volunteer workers for help. These brought old memories where she meets the blue nose pitbull, later named Lucy. She grabbed her phone that was conveniently placed in her pocket and dialed the number provided in the email. It rang for a while till someone picks up on the other end

"Hello there this is Jordan Pet Shelter, I'm Jennifer how may I be of assistance?"

"Good morning, I'm Vanessa, I got an email from you guys about volunteering at your shelter" a few seconds passed before Jennifer talked.

"Oh yes! Well, we can schedule times where you can come in". Jennifer said very politely over the phone.

"That would be great! Is it alright if I can come on in today?" Vanessa asked.

"Well of course. Would 1:00 work?"

"That will do. Thank you so much" Vanessa said with a smile.

"Alrighty then Ms. Vanessa, I'll be seeing you around 1 today" Jennifer ending the phone call after both said goodbye.

Vanessa gently placed her phone onto the table, she backed the chair out to walk over to a black shelving unit next to the tv. A photo of Vanessa sitting down while hugging a pitbull dog placed upon the top of the shelf. Next to the photo was a beige dog collar with complimentary brown leash. Here Vanessa picked up both leash and collar, she walked over to the custom made periwinkle blue flat colored couch. As she sat staring at her previous companions items, looking back to memories of them together. Playing in their backyard, taking hikes, going cross country, going to work together, cuddling, and having chats together, yet, it's mostly howling or whining.

"Lucy I have a confession to tell you" Vanessa leaned back and sighed. "I maybe seeing other dogs. Don't worry I'll always love you." a small chuckle as she talked to herself.

A few minutes past by as Vanessa laid back with her eyes closed. The moment was ruined by a phone call. With that Vanessa got up while groaning unhappy, she was able to get the phone call. The caller was a friend of Vanessa, more of a family member then a friend.

"Good Morning Vietnam!" the friends said with such excitement. "Hope your morning is swell and not depressing, so what are your plans today girlfriend"

"Well Trudy, good morning and yes my morning is going great today. To answer your question, I'm volunteering at a shelter this evening so that's my plan, anywho, how are you and what's your plans for this day?' they talk to each other almost every time.

"Oh. . . going to a shelter, you sure? I mean you just lost lucy a few months ago and you were very depressed about it. My gosh do you want me to come with you? What am I saying i'm totally coming with you. This a huge step for depressed Vanessa, and a giant step for progress" Vanessa bursted out laughing of joy. Trudy always had a way to lift up the spirits of anyone she meets.

"Since your coming Trudy you want to meet up for lunch then?" Vanessa asked with some giggles interrupting her sentence.

"Sounds like a fancy plan to me."

"Alrighty then my good friend, I'll see you at the Lunch Brunch then?" both Vanessa and Trudy giggles. They ended the call with positive thoughts.

Vanessa felt like the grey dark house, light up to a warm welcoming house she used to live in with her partner Lucy. Maybe she will be able to find someone like Lucy.
