Catharina's POV
-
The castle was almost as busy today as it was the day of our anual christmas ball. Now that was a show. It was also my absolute favorite time of the year. Its the only time I don't dread staying in the castle. I stretched and got up from my bed to wash up. I looked at myself in the mirror and cringed. I was getting older and older by the day and I hated it. Growing up just means more responsibilities and i'm really not looking foward to that. I shook the thought out of my head and began to brush my teeth and brushed my hair letting it flow into its natural curls. I wasn't in the mood to tame it. I got up early today on purpose even though I didn't exactly have any classes. At least not a class that was on my schedule anyway. The people here are just too oblivious to realize that I don't just curtsy all day, I have a life of my own as well. Well, if you can even consider this a life. I changed into some comfy clothes and hurried down the stairs for once, excited to get the day started.
I bid hello to everyone on the way down, but its not like anyone was paying attention to me anyway, they were all too busy planning the small party for today. I couldn't help but laugh at how funny they looked. They were always so serious when we had guest over, especially when it was the Styles' family, or so I've heard. Though, I'd never actually seen them in person. Which was ironic considering the fact that our families share the kingdom, but I guess it makes sense considering they've always hated each other. That is something I will never understand if i'm being honest.
"Catharina Amalia Sanderson!" A voice called from behind me. I immediately recognized the voice and rolled my eyes at the fact that she used my full name. I quickly mustered a fake smile before turning around.
"Yes Marissa?" I asked as innocent as possible.
"What are you doing up so early?" She frowned looking me up and down.
"And why are you dressed like that?" She added with a disgusted look. This time I didn't bother holding back the eye roll.
"Actually, I was just about to-,"
"Marissa! Niall needs you in the court yard, something went wrong with the food orders!" A guard yelled cutting me off. She furrowed her eyebrows and nodded before walking away.
"Just about to go train with Liam." I finished to myself. Its like no one even listens to me in this castle. I sighed again and continued my journey to go get a quick snack in the kitchen. I grabbed a green apple and cleaned it on my shirt before taking a bite.
"Excuse me, but there was no need for that. I always make sure I keep the apples extra clean." Niall spoke up making me drop my apple. I frowned but smiled innocently as soon as I saw how upset Niall already was.
"Sorry." I said, my mouth still full of apple. He chuckled and shook his head moving over to pick the apple from where i'd dropped it.
"These are for the party Cat." He said disapprovingly. I glared at him and crossed my arms.
"Which is why, I got an extra batch just for you." He added proudly. I smiled and shook my head. He knew me so well.
"Thank you Niall, I hope you didn't forgot the-,"
"Peanut butter? No I got that as well." He said passing the jar accross the counter.
"You really know how to please the ladies don't you?" I teased. He shrugged and playfully brushed himself off.
"I try." He added.
I laughed and shook my head. Niall has this thing where he likes to believe he's some sort of 'badass', but no one really thinks so.
