Nova POV

"Nova!" I heard someone shout.

I turned around. It was starting to get to me, the fact that no one can leave me alone for five seconds.

"Yes?" I sighed whilst rubbing my eyes.

"Girl where the hell have you been?" Layla asked as she slowed down after running.

"Oh you know, here and there."

"Really, for a girl who doesn't like socialising, you sure do know a lot of people."

"Yeah. And for a girl who doesn't like to mix with the mean girls, you sure do hang around with them a lot." I crossed my arms.

"They aren't all bad, well, except Pansy. But I'm new, I need to learn from our society."

"New? We're all new Layla." I chuckled.

"I'm here now aren't I?"

"Yeah, I suppose. But could you please stick around with me, I really don't want to have a huge friendship group of people. It's too much effort." I sighed, making Layla laugh.

"Well I don't think luck is on your side." She said pointing behind me.

I turned around and much to my dismay, I saw Harry and Ron waving and smiling at me whilst Hermione rudely pushed past the two. I sheepishly smiled back at them then turned back around.

"Why does God hate me." I mumbled.

"What do you have against friend groups? They can be really great."

"Yeah because getting a gift for ten people's birthdays is great. And supporting each other when someone in need is great. But then when one of your friends decide to hand around with other people outside of the group, she or he becomes and instant outcast and is banished, then eventually brought back into the group as if it never happened in the first place."

"Damn. Sounds like you have experience?"

"All too well. It gets even more petty with each group of friends. I'm sure Pansy's posse are no different."

"Well, girl, I'm convinced." She said throwing and arm over my shoulders as I smiled.

"Now I can say I have one friend."

"Not just that, but a bestie. Oh! We should get one of those friendship necklaces that connect together. Ooooh and some friendship bracelets as well."

My eyes widened with fear. I've made a mistake.

"Nova, I'm kidding! Maybe not totally but I'm kidding!"

"O-ok." I said unconvincingly.

"But there will be none of that yet!" She said so suddenly.

"Thank Merlin." I sighed in relief.

"Girl, you've been holding out on me." She whined with a small pout on her lips.

"I literally have nothing to hide." I insist whilst taking a sip from my navy blue water bottle.

"Oh really, what about your sort of cute brother!" She blurted out, but trailed off in the middle of her sentence.

I immediately spat out the water in mouth when I heard 'cute' brother, but mostly brother. I wasn't sure if I wanted to laugh or pry with fear.

"I don't have a brother."

"Then why were you calling that guy brother, in the common room last night?"

"There wasn't anyone in the common room last night." I say too quickly. "Are you feeling ok Lay?"
