I walked out of Kayla's house with my cigarette carton and lighter and sat on the curb. I lit it and put it to my mouth and inhaled.
"Rough night?" Mazin asked walking towards me from the house.
"Rough life is more like it my friend. want one?" I asked reaching for the carton of Camel's.
"sure why not." he took one out and lit it. "So what's troubling you exactly?" he asked looking at me.
"My family. School, the only place I have a break is at work and I only work a few hours a day. Nathan just keeps getting worse and my mom gets more blind to what's happening. my dad never answers and my brother is never home. I don't know what to do. I honestly just want to give up." I took another hit.
"well that sucks. I'm sorry.
I went upstairs to the room I use. Henry was laying in the bed. He smiled at me. I faintly smiled back. "You're mine." he said as I pulled off my shorts and put on pants.
"you are mine too" I laid on the bed.
He put his arm around me and held me close.
"you smell like a cigarette." he said with a chuckle.
"well, I just smoked one so."
He kissed my cheek and lifted up the blanket. I got under and fell asleep.
I walked out of the house around 7. The air was still cold and the plants had a slight mist to them. I loved the smell of the early morning dew. I readjusted my flannel and my purse and got into my car. I drove into my driveway and went into the backyard through the sliding glass door.i let my dogs outside and gave them some more food and water. The kitchen smelled like coffee and fried potatoes. I walked out and Sat at the bar connected to the kitchen counter.
"Good morning hun." my mom said as she gave me a cup of coffee.
"Hello" I said drinking some coffee.
"Where were you last night?" she asked with a twist of her wrist while stirring the potatoes.
"well I went to work and then to Kaylas and I fell asleep there on accident." I replied as I looked towards the living room where my brother Sat in the morning.
"who gave you permission to do either of those things?" she asked with a certain coldness to her tone.
"my father did." I said getting up and putting my cup in the dishwasher.
"Does he live here? NO. so why the hell does he think he is giving you permission to do anything!" she yelled in my face.
"Mom, neither of you have custody of me. Dad technically has just as much right to me as you do." I said walking towards the hall. she grabbed me by my wrist and slapped me across the face. I was taller than my mom. she was 5"5 and I was 5"8.
"Really mother? Great parenting skills. You slapped me because I talked about my dad." I yanked my wrist away, and walked towards my room. I Sat on my bed and called my dad.
"Hey sweetie, how are you? how is Zack? and is your mom doing good?" he asked.
"Hey dad. I'm not doing too good, I'm not sure about Zack and my mom is still with Nathan and an alcoholic." I whispered so if she was listening she couldnt hear.
"do you want to spend the holidays with me and Mariah and you can bring your friends and your pets." he said nicely.
"Could you and mariah come here and stay in the spare bedroom for the holidays. dad I really want to live with you. not mom. " I said quietly.
