I cautiously made my way out of the classroom, praying that I would not bump into Hayley and Tori. Once again, my work had been shown to the whole class and once again, I had got the evil eyes off the girls. That usually meant that I was going to get beat up after school, once again. Just across the field, I saw Derek and his mates laughing and joking, but when he saw my worried expression, (yes, he has supernatural sight. Don't ask me how) he came running over, weaving through the mass of people on they're way to their next class.
"What's up? And don't tell me it's nothing, because it is quite obviously something," he demanded, stopping me in my tracks.
"It really is nothing, it's just I'm getting "the looks" off the girls again," I replied, staring at the ground. I could feel his eyes on me, looking for a sign that I wasn't telling him the full truth. Sometimes it felt as though he could see right into my soul. It was kinda creepy sometimes.
"Don't worry, I'm taking you home tonight. I won't let them near you," he assured me, our arms brushing gently. I gave him a small smile, knowing that he would risk his life to save me, just as I would for him. The reason he was taking me home tonight was because it was one of those rare nights where we both go hunting in the forest. Of course, I'd have to make up some excuse for my mom when I got home, but it's not like I'll find any pain in the beatings. I have taught myself to numb the pain. I was also going to his house afterwards so that he could help me with my homework, because I am at the bottom in pretty much everything and he is at the top in pretty much everything. We are a very contrasting pair, but that's what makes us such good friends.Once again, we had to split up to go our separate ways for our next class, but I was fortunate enough to have Daniel in my next class, so I was enable to endure.
The next two classes pretty much went by as usual, but I couldn't really concentrate on anything the teachers were saying. I was too distracted by the deathly looks being shot at me from the girls. If looks could kill, I swear, I would have died about a thousand painful deaths so far. Unluckily for me, both Derek and Daniel had lunch clubs to go to, so I took my seat on the usual table in the corner, hoping none of the girls would see me, eating my sandwich silently. No such luck. As soon as they came in the canteen, they found me. They didn't even bother to get their lunch. They came straight for me. I knew what was coming, so I decided to be one step ahead.
I walked out of the canteen and wandered over to the place where they usually beat me up. I braced myself for the pain I was about to feel and wasn't surprised by the unnatural force of the hit. After all, you get used to it, when it happens every day. The punch knocked me backward and I lost my balance, landing on my back in the dirt. The distant sound of laughing came to me before I lost all senses due to the pain that suddenly shot up my spine. I heard it crack as they kicked for all they were worth. I tried unsuccessfully to fight back, but only gained more pain. I managed to make out a mall crowd gathered round, watching the fight. I was being humiliated once again, and no one was bothering to even attempt to help me. Everyone else seemed to be enjoying this. Tears came to my eyes and I couldn't help but release them after one painful hit to the stomach.
"Get up and fight, you coward," a voice said, probably Hayley or Tori. Normally I would have mustered up any strength I had left and stood up, but I knew I would just be knocked down again. I hoped with all my heart that one of the boys would finish their clubs early and help me. Thankfully, my dreams came true and both of the boys happened to finish early and as soon as they saw who was getting beat up, they came straight to my aid. Derek took on the girls and Daniel helped me to my feet and took me elsewhere. I could barely walk after the way they'd stomped on my leg.
Eventually, Derek turned up, with only a few minor bruises. He looked at me in concern which I hardly registered because of my blurry vision. I suddenly realised how much my head was throbbing and then, after hearing Derek shout my name, everything went black.......
Hi hope you liked it. I am sooo sorry I haven't updated in so long. But I have just started high school and everything was so hectic in year 6 that I didn't have much chance to update. I promise I will try and get on Wattpad more often. Love you all
