This was a piece of work I wrote recently. I'm not very good at poems but I felt the need to share this one. I've been studying the Holocaust at school and I usually get very upset about it. This poem is the effect of the holocaust on me.

This Sad Lullaby

“Camp 143, are being called for showers”

I swallow the rock in my throat

I remember Mama, “Don’t be a coward”

I think of home, but it’s merely a thought

This sad lullaby is one for the pounding in your heart

These words are for your anxious family

I sing of sorrow, as your world breaks apart

I’ll sing of sorrow. I’ll sing you to safety

There are tears of fear in my eyes that sting

The terrible rumours are true, no doubt

I know what this last day will bring

As Killers push me forward I listen to their shout

This sad lullaby is dedicated solely to you

These tears are for your terrible fate

This anger is for the people that knew

The strong repulse is for the man we hate

We march silent to the Tower

The murderous chambers of Gas

I dare not cry or cower

I see no expression on the faces I pass

This sad lullaby is one for your burning heart

This ache is for the pain they caused

This fury is for the fate they deserve

This smile is for the love I send to you.

Okay, so sorry for the bad rhymes and the strangeness overall. Hope you like it
