When your 5 your dream of Space and the sky
The shining stars that protect the night
When your 8 you wish for magic, to fly high
that's brought to you by Fairies with wings so bright.
When your 10 you make a mature decision
To be an epically famous rockstar
Then you turn 12 and your left with a vision
Your gonna hit the road with your Porsche and guitar.
Suddenly your 14 and your growing taller
Who needs rockstars your just gonna be rich
When 16 comes along you stick to being a program installer
Because let's face money takes effort and efforts a B!tch
19 years old and your craving the freedom
Your waitressing in a broke cafe with none of the dough
Your awaiting your knight to take you to stardom
Now your 20, let's face it...how low can you go...
26 and suddenly your there
Succesful journalist with dreams of writing
Your turning 30 with a job in menswear
Your dreams forgotten and reality is waiting.
This one was a bit depressing but last week I met a woman who told me to chase my dreams and not forget them like she did. She was a middle aged woman working in 'Next-- Menswear' and I had been talking to my mum about exams. She was smiling and told me about how when you grow up you stop considering thoughts of dreaming about the future and how reality catches up with you so this is to Amanda from Next who I only ever spoke to once but managed to write a poem about. Awkward? I know.
