Aghast - Chapter I

Aghast, meaning struck with overwhelming shock or amazement; filled with sudden fright or horror.

A lot can happen during a lifetime.

Unfortunately for some people, they can't experience everything they wish before their time has run out.

At the moment the paladins of Voltron are holding a meeting, concerning some terrible news...

"It should have been me!"

"I can't believe it..."

"This can't be true?"

"Why him..."

Whispers of all sorts dispersed around the big round table. All coming from every individual except for one.

Keith.

He was choked up from shock he couldn't speak a word...

All of a sudden a loud noise alarmed the paladins of the distraught look on Keith's face as he stood up and left the room. Shiro moves to get up and accompany Keith but Allura stops him and softly points out "He just needs some space."

As Shiro sits down he utters a sentence under his breath, noticing no one heard him he speaks up getting everyone's attention and continuing with the situation in hand.

Rushing from hall to hall Keith spun around in circles looking for the bathroom, when he reached the door he slammed it open, running to the toilet choking up his dinner from last night and this mornings breakfast.

Drowning in his vomit he gasps for air he forgot he needs to be able to breathe, picking himself up and dragging his legs to the basin he splashes his face with water ridding of the vomit around his mouth.

Looking up he stares into the mirror studying every bit of his face, his puffed-up eyes, red lips and pale skin. he gives one more glance at his face before he turns to the door and walks out.

After defeating Zarkon, the paladins were given errands to attend, Pidge was given some new data to research about Lotor and the Galra forces, Hunk was given the opportunity to see Shay, mostly to check if she and the rest of the Balmerians were okay after the 'event' that had recently interrupted their peaceful day.

Shiro went with Hunk just in case something happened and Keith was told to train he had no choice and didn't mind until they gave out Lance's duties.

Lance's task was to carry out a solo mission to spy on Lotor after his father had defeated Zarkon, they need to get any intel on the Galra's future plans to attack them and anything extra. This made Keith a little unsettled... okay really unsettled because Keith has been training with Lance the past couple quintants and from those quintants Keith knew he definitely wasn't ready to go on a mission alone.

Quintants - Altean for days.

Keith rushed through the group and up to Shiro, he grabbed his vest and pulled him down so he was face to face with Keith, making everyone jump a fair way back from him and Shiro.

"Why the HELL... is Lance going on a solo mission?! It's way too dangerous!" Keith yelled

Shiro calmed himself down before answering Keith "He will be fine Keith, It's too risky for more than one person to go." He suddenly knew that wasn't the answer Keith wanted.

"I understand the conditions of the mission... it's just... why Lance? That is what I don't understand!" pushing Shiro back up Keith stormed out of the room and down the hallway towards his room.

Keith hears his name being shouted at the other end of the hall, he turns around stopping himself from saying something when he saw who it was.

"Keith, there is no need to be so angry about this," Lance said softly looking Keith straight in the eyes.

"Don't interrupt me, Lance! I do not agree that it's a good idea, how are you okay with this!?" Keith yelled out slowly regretting the tone of voice he used, he turns around and runs to his room before giving Lance the opportunity to answer and leaving him in the cold hallway very agitated.

Okay, that's the first chapter, it's a bit short but I hope you're liking it so far.
