"Sissy look what I found." My four year old sister, BlueJay, brings me a small rock and sets it in my hand. She smiles at me brightly.
How can she be happy!? I think. We are in the middle of the woods, our home is destroyed, and our Mom is dead.
I try to play along. "It's very pretty" I respond, struggling to hide the sorrow in my voice. BlueJay throws the rock on the ground.
"It's a squid Mockie! Watch it die!" She stomps on the little stone. Then, all of a sudden, she's yanked off the ground by her collar.
"Mockie! Mockie! The bad guy got me! The bad guy got me!" She had been picked up by a squid-human hybrid, which is now carrying the screaming child away.
"Blue!" I scream her name and run towards her, but another hybrid grabs me by my hair. My head stings as he pulls me up into the air and throws me at a tree. All of a sudden, I can't see through one of my eyes, and my face is in pain. I get back up and draw my sword. The hybrid lunges at me.
"Get away from me you piece of crap squid" I yell as I slash it away. I back up slowly and trip. I'm dead. I'm so dead.
The hybrid stands over me for a second, and takes out a whip. He laughs as he raises it. Then, a diamond axe comes out of nowhere and hits the hybrid. I look and see three men. They look worried.
"Are you okay?" One of them asks.
I nod in response and try to tell them what happened, but the blackness I'm seeing overtakes me.
