"PALOMA!" My mother called from the dining room.
"Wha???" I hollered back.
"School, hurry or you will be late."
"Shiz! I'm coming!"
I sprinted down the stairs clutching my backpack. I leaped onto the bus and sighed. I walked down the isle and found a seat next to Cate. She smiled at me and put in her headphones. I sighed knowing she isn't one who would wan't talk to me in the morning.
As I stared out the window I saw Reese and Edward at the bus stop. I smiled as they waved to me and Cate. Cate scowled and stared at them.
"Is she okay?" Edward mouthed.
I shrugged and stared into his bright brown eyes. I chewed on my lip and looked down.
Stop with the emotions before someone gets hurt. I lectured myself.
The bus shook as Edward and Reese stepped onto the bus. They sat down in the seats in front of us. Reese's head was nestled on Edward shoulder. I went to chewing my lip to chewing the inside of my cheek. I sniffed and opened my book and started reading.
"Paloma, gurl! Stop reading!" Reese exclaimed.
"W-why?" I stutter.
"People will thing you're a big nerd," She exclaimed.
I blush and say, " They already do."
She takes my book and tosses it to Zeeke. He smiles and chucks it out the window. I clamp my teeth together to hold in my scream. The only thing that got out was a small squeal.
"I-I need my. Why would?" I squeal.
Edward pats my head and laughs, "You left Paloma at a lost for words. An impossible feat!"
I blush and shove his hand away.
"Stop it!" I whine.
He smirks and turns around. Edward has always been like a sibling to me and so has Reese and Cate. We're all one big happy family. Edward is three months older therefore he is thirteen and we are still twelve. He loves to rub that in our faces.
As I am thinking about the first day of school when I feel Cate pulling at my sleeve.
"There it is! That's our new school. YAY JUNIOR HIGH!" She exclaims.
I giggled even though I was nervous. The bus squealed to a stop and the doors creaked open. I start to feel my heart beat quicken. Oh no. I'm having a panic attack! I can hear my breath quicken and my palms get all sweaty. I wipe them on my sweat shirt. And start to shake out my hands. We all stand up and file off the bus.
Edward pulls me into a hug and whispers, "Jesus Paloma, you will be fine!"
I slowly nod as my heart beat decreases in speed. He gives me on last hug as he joins his other friends. You see even though we are all friends we all belong in separate groups. Edward hangs out with the jocks, Reese is a anime geek, Cate is a theater nerd, and I am a straight up nerd. It's funny to think a jock and a anime nerd would be dating but, welcome to my school. (Insert mega eye roll). Thankfully we all sit at the same table.
Period one, two, three, and four flew by. All the teachers were nice and so were most of the students!
I was walking to lunch with Edward and Reese. They were holding hands and I felt like a major third wheel. I pulled on my blond hair and rolled my bright blue eyes. I wriggled my nose and clutched onto my book in fear someone would throw it again. I looked around and saw a mass of students surging toward the cafeteria.
I felt a hand pull my hair. I shrieked and dropped my book. A girl with brown wavy hair and an upturned nose peered down at me. I was significantly shorter than her. I was shorter than everyone though so I wasn't surprised.
"Hey, Loma," She sneered.
Oh no! Please not Ella... The girls and boys behind her snickered.
"Eighty times one hundred and twenty- three?" She questioned.
"That's easy! The answer is nine thousand, eight hundred and forty!" I say as I smile.
"See Lena? This one's a nerd! And what do we do with nerds?"
"Destroy their lives, Obviously!" She snickered.
I started to back away slowly. I was scared thinking what they would do to me. I hate to admit this but, I ran away. All I heard was Edward yelling at them. I burst into tears and ran.
Ella charged after and Edward and Reese sprinted after her.
"STOP RUNNIN LOMA!"
I started shaking as I melted into the wall. My back was against the cold surface and I slid down. I curled myself into and ball and sobbed. I heard her say horrible insults and rude things. I wanted to die and kill her two.
Ella taunted, "Oh Loma, you're nothing but a worthless little brat that's a pain in everyone's butt! Die Loma, DIE!"
I was scared I might start believing what she was saying so I knew I had to put a stop to it. My mouth, like always was quicker than my thoughts.
"SHUT UP!" I screamed.
I felt like electricity was radiating off my body. I felt myself float upward as I stared down at her. I narrowed my eyes and pointed my hands at her. I felt two shock waves shoot out of my hands and they hit her body. She fell to the ground and twitched.
"You little.....!" She yelled.
I stared at her as I fell onto the tile floor. My head hurt and I was dizzy. All I remember Reese cradling my head and Edward screaming for help. Then I blacked out.
