Hello loves! Welcome to the second chapter of twenty by three. This chapter will be more centered around Minjoon (MJ) and he'll be the narrator every three chapters.
From the get-go, I imagined him as Jungkook since he was in the dream that inspired me to write this story. I think that long-haired Jungkook is definitely closer to the visual I had in mind for MJ.
For any phrases/words that are not in English, I will post the meanings in the footnote at the bottom of each chapter :)
Happy reading~
/ / chapter two / /
"So, you're saying you tricked your sister into letting you stay overnight at her place?"
I rolled my eyes, of course she would think of it that way. I never got why people always misunderstand me. "Sua, are you even listening to me?" I asked through the phone.
"You should've just gone home or back to your apartment in Boston. All you know how to do is inconvenience others." I could practically feel her glare all the way from Seoul.
"Yeah, yeah," I said dismissively. I didn't answer her phone call to get scolded like this. She thought that just because she was some big CEO's daughter, that she could talk down to everyone. I didn't even know how we became friends in the first place.
"Minjoon, I'm being serious. What about returning home scares you so much that you need your sister to hold your hand the whole way?"
"I'm hanging up now." I quickly ended the call and put my phone on airplane mode. No doubt a string of angry texts would follow, but that could wait until later.
Me, scared...? As if. What was there to fear? I hated how she always thought she knew everything.
"Alright, spill the beans. What's got you about to murder your poor phone?"
I looked up from my phone as Julia sat down beside me. Her curious brown eyes looked at me expectantly as she handed me my LIRR ticket. We were waiting for the next Montauk-bound train at Atlantic Terminal.
I slipped my phone back into my jacket pocket along with the ticket and grinned. "Spill what beans? The ones I ate in the burrito I got at Chipotle earlier? 'Cause I think I'm having trouble digesting them. I guess you're gonna have a great time sitting next to me for the next couple of hours."
Julia wrinkled her nose and made a repulsed sound. At least I could use my experience from years of pushing her buttons to my favor. I didn't exactly want to talk about anything from my trip just yet.
But, it seemed like it only worked for a moment.
"Seriously though, what's got you glaring at your phone so hard? It's unlike you."
I just played it cool and shrugged my shoulders, "Just lost a game, that's all."
Julia was used to me being open about everything and if she continued to believe that I was, it would be for the best. Not that I wasn't open or honest, because I was... just not with everything. The things I knew I could get away with, I chose to keep it that way, especially with my sister, but unfortunately that didn't work with everyone....
Angel....
He was probably one of the reasons why I decided to crash at Julia's in the first place. I just... wasn't ready to go home yet. Angel would sniff me out in a heartbeat and get me talking. I didn't feel ready to talk about anything right now. Obviously Julia and Mom would hound me with questions about where I've been, what I've been doing. They were both naturally very curious and I was usually good at giving them answers that satisfied them, but Angel wouldn't give me that same leeway.
