I rushed to the hospital. I stopped at Janae's place and she climbed into the charger. We were both in sweats and sleeping clothes, and I was speeding off to University Community Hospital. We rushed into the emergency room side and Janae went to the first nurse she saw.

"Mijo. Mijo Bradford. Where is he?" She sounded scared and on the verge of hysterical. I wasn't much far behind.

"Christopher Brown? Are they here?" I was pleading with her, and Janae was gripping her arm tightly. The nurse was shocked and then she pointed to the room 3 doors down the first hallway.

"Over there.. The same room, with a curtain in-between. I am not sure if they're awake though." She had to yell the last part, because Janae and I had already headed down the corridor.

"Chris? Mijo?" I ran into the room and I saw Chris. His eyes had been closed, but when he heard my voice, he opened them slowly.

"Babe." That was all I needed to hear. He was ok. I realized I had started crying. I was filled with relief.

"Honey, oh Chris, what happened? Where did you leave to go?"

I could hear Mijo and Janae conversing low from the other side of the curtain.

Chris took a deep breath and told me the truth, followed by the story he told the cops. He made me go tell Janae and Mijo the story for when the cops came questioning tomorrow. After that he was very drowsy, so I promised I would be back in the morning.

I woke up pissed. It was 8 am, and my leg was killing me. They had come in and set my leg. It was fractured, not too, bad, but I would be out of commission for a good month or two. I was in no shape to beI able to go out and sell like this. I was easy prey to get jumped, just like Mijo did. This was going to fuck up the rotation, but Wayne and the guys would just have to deal. I was pissed at Mijo for putting me in the situation, and pissed at myself for letting myself listen to his dumb ass. Not only could we have died, but I have kids, a fiancé, I needed him to be smart about shit. Especially now that he had a girl everyone knew... they could easily use her to get back at him. I knew he had lost a good amount of money, and my Escalade, and I was not going to be so easy at forgiving him. The streets ain't easy. And he chooses to sell rival our crew. And Wayne left him alone cause he was my blood, but shit... I felt like Mijo was asking for it.

At 10am, Ma and Kalia arrived with the twins. They looked worried, and I knew Ma was thinking it was some illegal shit. She was right of course, but wrong because it wasn't my fault this time. It was Mijo's. We weren't gonna tell her the truth though; we already agreed to tell the same story we told the cops. We had a nice little visit, but I was still pissed about everything, and so I pretended to be tired so that I could get time alone. I hated being incapacitated like this. I buzzed the nurse and she came and brought me more morphine.
