It was dark and Scott was getting the field ready. He put a whistled in his mouth and blew it causing the practice to begin.
"Hey! Nice work, Diaz. Nolan, you stay in there. You can take him. Nice work. That's the best shot of pre-season" Scott said "Thanks, Coach" said one of the players "Assistant Coach. What exactly are you doing?" Coach Finstock asked as he walked up to Scott. "Drills" Scott said "You're giving them hope. When did I ever give you hope?" Coach asked "Never" Scott said "Exactly. Nothing motivates more than withering criticism. Speaking of, um, losers, where's your, uh, where's your little protege?" Coach asked, "Um..." Scott said as he looked around "'Um'? Is...Is 'Um' a location? Is 'Um' behind me?" Coach asked "He'll be here. Okay? He's the backbone of this team. He's stepped it up in every way possible. A born leader who can handle anything that you throw at him" Scott said.
At the same time in the boys locker room.
"I can't handle this" Liam said as he was laying on a bench with Mason and Corey standing on each side of him. "Yes, you can. And you've handled so much worse than this" Mason said as he pulled Liam to sit up "You're practically the Alpha now" Mason said as he put a shirt on Liam and Corey was ready to give him his lacross gear on "I'm nothing without her" Liam said as Corey put Liam's lacross gear on him "Liam, can you help me with this, please?" he asked "Hayden left me" Liam said "She moved, to protect her sister. And it's not like she dumped you or anything" Mason said "Why is your arm so heavy?" Corey asked.
Then Mason's phone vibrate, he pick it up and looked at it. "Okay, Scott says Coach is losing it" Mason said "Scott's leaving, too. Just as Stiles and Harper have left and James is also going to leave" Liam said with a sad voice "Going to college is not leaving, okay? It's called growing up. And we're all gonna be going to different colleges eventually" Mason said "I thought we were both applying to UCLA" Corey said looking at Mason "What, you guys are going to the same college?" Liam asked "That is not the point" Mason said and gave Liam his lacross stick "What is the point?" Liam asked "The point is that summer's almost over, we're about to be seniors, this is about to be the best year of our entire lives, and you're still captain of the lacross team" Mason said as him and Corey grabbed Liam and dragged him towards the door. "So come on. We got to..." Mason said but then they all felled backwards.
