Chapter 2
As the former flames held onto each other they watched the man they thought to be dead, and hoped to be dead, stop to buy a newspaper and a coffee before continuing on down the street.
As the man went out of view the two came out of their trances and realized they were holding each other. Jones pushed away Zachary and before he could stop her, she was lost in the crowd.
Zachary swore, he was supposed to stop her. And Dominic was supposed to be dead. Why wasn't he dead? Even though this question greatly controlled his thoughts for the following days he often thought of a more pressing question. Why did he feel like he never wanted to let Jessie leave his arms?

Jessica tried to stop thinking about Zachary, Dominic, and more Zachary. She can't do this again. Jessica Jones, she thought, you need to shove these thoughts out of your head. Get a grip woman. You and Zachary are done.
Jessica finally calmed the thoughts raging in her head when she reached the Russian Ambassador's home. She slipped through the servants entrance without a sound. She climbed the 5 flights of stairs effortlessly, leaving no fingerprints, hairs, or any trace she was there. This wasn't her first rodeo.
Finally she made it to the top of the building where the ballroom was. Jessica's orders were to simply place the bomb under the one table. She laughed to herself, Zachary had it all wrong. She wasn't to kill the Russians, simply scare them into postponing their meeting.
A few days later Jessica was walking towards the coffee shop she adored, 'Storybook Cafe'. It was a quaint shop, not too many people went there but the muffins had just the right amount of delicious. Jessica slipped into a booth and waved for the waitress to come over.
"Black coffee and a chocolate chip muffin please."
"Coming right up!"
Jessica sighed. Ever since she completed her last job, she had nothing to distract her brain with. Fortunately that wasn't going to be a problem because she saw trouble coming her way.
"Hello again Jessica." Zachary slid into the booth. "I see you're still coming to the same cafe." he picked up her book, "still reading romance novels?"
"What do you want now Zachary?" Jessica sighed again, rubbing her brow.
"Oh, I came to tell you a story." Zachary said with a smile as if they were long lost friends. "Oh, I'll have a coffee with extra cream. And maybe a chocolate chip muffin. I hear they're the best."
Jessica rolled her eyes as the waitress swooned. Sure Zachary was dashingly handsome, with a touch of rugged, it that's no reason to drool.
"So what do you wanna tell me?"
As Zachary filled in Jessica, her eyes grew wide. There wasn't much to tell, but it is apparently the truth, not what they have thought for the past decade.
"Couldn't you sugarcoat that a little Zach?"
"Oh but the truth is so interesting." Zachary replied with a dazzling smile that would melt a normal woman. However, Jessica was not normal.
"So, what I'm hearing is that Dominic never died, he's turned on America, and now he's out to get-"
"GET DOWN!" Zachary yelled and shoved Jessica down into his lap just as the sniper's bullets hit where her heart once was.
"-us." Jessica finished
