Snow was a pretty little girl, white skinned, smart and quiet. She laid on the hammock tied at the backyard, her dog Rocky sleeping right under the hammock, she held a fairy tale story book 'snow white' in one hand and was deep in sleep. Eight years old Snow loved the fact her mother gave her the name snow white, maybe that was the reason why she was so attached to the fairytale snow White.
She didn't like the weekends because the only thing she watched other than the TV was her parents incessant fights, her dad wanted a divorce but Snow was the only thing holding her mum back from signing the papers.
"Baby should we go and visit Grandma and Grandpa?" Her mum would always ask, looking for means to run away quietly, Snow loved to visit her maternal grandparents and getting showered with love was the best part of it. The night before Christmas Eve was the last straw, Snow's mum had packed up her things alongside Snow's belongings.

The night calm and dark, it was yet to snow this winter and this made people wonder if it was going to be a plain Christmas celebration.
"No white Christmas this year? How sad, I was going to build a snow man and ride a sleigh down partyisle in Bunruk" Snow said sadly.

"It's ok baby, you can do all that when we get to patancol with Grandma and Grandpa" her mum said as she hurriedly took Snow's tiny hand in one hand and the luggage on the other hand. It was only a matter of time before Snow's daddy returns and to beat time she had to steal one of his cars, as late as 9pm Snow and her mum arrived at the docks. It was cold but Snow was dressed like she was expecting a cool weather tonight, every word her mum muttered trailed into the ice cold steam that came from her breath.

"Put a scarf around your neck mother, it's really cold out here" Snow said as she wrapped her mum's neck with her scarf🧣.

"Thank you baby, now come on"
She let out a smile that revealed her poor dentition as a result of loosing her first set of teeth, she followed her mum to the entrance of the ferry, an old man stood smiling at people who came by to take the late ferry. He waved at Snow and she waved back, she wondered what an old man like that could be looking for around here, just then she's pulled into the ferry by her mum.
An hour later the ferry set sailed across the deep blue sea. Patancol was really far from Bunruk but Snow would have a good childhood there away from a reckless father, or so her mum thought.... Deep into the night, a cool continuous wind kept wailing across, at some pointing shifting the ferry's course. Snow couldn't sleep, she sat watching the ocean all alone as she sang to herself.

"What's a little kid like you doing out here by this time?" The old man asked.

"Oh! It's you sir. Come join me please" she requested politely and gestured for the old man to have a seat.

"Should I?" He teased and sat beside her...

"I heard if you wish on a shooting star 🌟 your wish would come true" Snow said staring at the night sky.

"Tales of the old, in my time...if you repeat a wish ten times with belief your wish would be granted" the old man said.

"What would you like to wish for!" Snow asked curiously.

"Me? I'd wish.......🤔 To be young again I guess" he replied and smiled, most of his teeth rotten.

" My mum always said age is a blessing from above, and responsibilities comes with it right?" Snow asked.

"Of course dear child, what about you? What would you wish for?" He asked in return.

"Nmmmm.....for mum to be happy but for that to happen I need to be out of the way.....how? I want to go somewhere like the satisfactory forest Snow White lived with the seven nice dwarfs. If I'm happy only then can mum be happy" Snow said.

"You're a wise kid 😉 but do you think your mum would be happy without you?" The old man asked.

"Yes" Snow said and suddenly the wind became stronger, the course changed again, the captain became alert as a storm broke out, heavy droplets of rain hit the ferry as it swayed from side to side on the lonely ocean.

"Mum!" Snow yelled and intended running back to where her mum laid inside the ferry but a huge lightning struck her path.

"Becareful kid!" The old man yelled. The people staggered out to look for support and safety, Snow had lost track of her mum who was also searching for her.

Alas! She saw her mom on the other side of the ferry dripping wet and likewise herself.
"Mum!" She yelled, they both ran towards each other but the ferry was just about capsizing and little Snow rolled out of the ferry and straight into the cold ocean...... slowly, the moonlight became dim.

  "Snow!!!!" Her mum yelled.
