As Aiyana walked into camp with Kai by her side the people nearby turned to stare. The others had reached here by now and probably announced Kai's death so to see him walking must a shocking.

"Ronan's waiting for you in his tent, he's a bit upset so I'd be careful what you say." One woman informed Aiyana as she walked by.

"Thanks," Aiyana said softly, acknowledging her. They walked straight to the tent.

Aiyana took a deep breath, she hadn't noticed her hands shaking up till now. She could just disappear and no one would know, but she went in anyway. Ilani and Flynn were seated at a table, looking discouraged. They had probably gotten the worst parts of the lecture. Ronan would calm down when he saw that Kai was alive.

The tall man was standing in the corner pacing, he was tall and very muscular. He was much bigger than Aiyana but his height reminded her of the queen. She was so much taller than Aiyana even though she was the average height for female sorcerers, which was taller than the human woman.

Unlike the queen, Ronan had very tan skin. Aiyana couldn't believe that someone was so pale but she had seen it with her own eyes and very up close too.

Ronan turned slowly, his expression turning from a look of anger to a look of confusion in seconds. "Kai?"

"Sir," Kai said quietly, looking down at the ground.

"You said he was dead," he turned to address the brother and sister sitting on the other side of the room. "I don't like being lied to."

"We thought he was," Ilani mumbled, "I thought I saw him die!"

"Why are you mumbling, speak up so I can actually hear you."

Aiyana interjected before this got any hotter, "I healed him, he was close to death but I was able to bring him back before it was too late." She lied, not daring to mention what the queen did.

The image of her backing Aiyana against the wall burned in her mind. The feeling of her hand on her skin made Aiyana shiver as if she were out in the cold.

"You healed him?" Ronan asked in disbelief, come here Kai."

Kai walked over to the big man. "Take your shirt off," he commanded making Kai blush.

"Where did you get shot?"

Kai pointed to an area near his heart, there was no wound, not even a scar. It was as if it never happened.

"I'm impressed, your powers have gotten significantly better," he complimented Aiyana.

Aiyana nodded, lying again, she would not have been able to heal him that well had she gotten to him on time, especially if the arrow punctured his heart. Although she was powerful, she didn't have the experience that others had.

"Good job," he briefly gave her props before becoming stern again. "But how could you even let him go there alone in the first place. You should have known that was an awful idea. Kai could be dead right now. You were trained to work as a team."

Aiyana noticed he didn't directly blame Kai but he blamed everyone but Kai. How strange that he said he didn't play favorites.

"It's my fault sir, I wanted to get a layout of the outside of the castle for the upcoming infiltration. Aiyana tried to stop me but I didn't listen. I knew what I was doing, I'm sorry. Don't blame them, if it weren't for Aiyana I'd be dead."

"Don't beat yourself up over it, you're still here aren't you?" Ronan said gently.

"I felt myself die," Kai said, "all of a sudden I woke up In Aiyana's arms, I-i"

"It's alright," Ronan pulled him into a hug, "You three get out, we'll discuss punishment later. But Aiyana you are excused from that as it seems like you're the only one in your group with some common sense."

Aiyana couldn't get out of there quick enough, she followed the brother and sister pairing out of the tent.

"I cannot believe that he's seriously punishing us," Ilani complained. "That was all on Kai, he shouldn't be our group leader, it's unfair if he's just going to favor Kai over all of us. We should petition for a new one, like your aunt."

Aiyana shook her head, "you do not want my aunt in charge, she's worse than Ronan."

"I don't think that's possible," Flynn chimed in.

"Well it is."

"Yeah okay, I get why he dismissed you from punishment but if it weren't for Flynn and I you would have just left him so you should get a little bit of blame."

"It was just Flynn actually, if it weren't for Flynn." Aiyana corrected her, Ilani loved to take credit for ideas that weren't hers if they could benefit her.

"Whatever," she rolled her eyes, "all I'm saying is that Kai should be the only one getting punished. I never even liked him, why does he have to be on our team."

"Why don't you ask the council why they choose who was on what team, I'm sure they'll be happy to answer you." Aiyana couldn't wait to get away from her, personally, she liked Kai the most in their group even though he was way too headstrong. Ilani talked too much and Flynn thought he was the boss.

Her answer quieted Ilani for a while until they were almost at their tents, then she opened her mouth once more.

"I'm on hunting duty tonight, you should come with."

"I doubt my aunt will let me will let me but I'll ask."

Ilani rolled her eyes, "you're a grown woman, you shouldn't have to ask your aunt for permission to go anywhere."

"Go ahead and tell her that while you're talking to the council, she takes people questioning her parenting very well." Aiyana has never been so relieved to reach her aunt's tent.

"Let me know what she says and good luck."

"I will," Aiyana forced a smile before walking into the tent. Her aunt was sitting on her bedroll, she was reading a book.

"Hello Aiyana, how was your mission?"

"It was good." She walked towards her side of the tent, she wanted to change clothes.

"Hm, I heard one of your teammates died," she said not looking up from her book.

"Kai's alright, after Ilani and Flynn left I got him back and healed him. They just thought he was dead."

"You should have heard Ronan when they said he died, the whole camp heard his outrage. You should have gotten back quicker, if you teleported you could have been here much quicker."

"I- I was too weak from the spell to teleport the both of us, I may have gotten the place wrong." Aiyana rushed to explain herself, although she was lying, she had really been stalling. She never looked forward to coming back here so any chance she got to be away from them, she took.

"Get over here." Her aunt demanded, her voice went from uninterested to outraged.

"Sit down," her aunt patted the area next to her when Aiyana approached her.

Aiyana sat down next to her aunt, she flinched as her aunt raised her hand. The loud slap was heard through the tent.

"Don't tell me you were too weak to do multiple spells, you're stronger than that. I know, I trained you." Her aunt stood up, she hit Aiyana across the face again.

"Are you too weak to defend yourself?" She hit her again and again making her bleed, "Are you going to heal yourself?"

Aiyana waited for it to stop but it seemed to continue to go on for much longer than normal.

Finally she couldn't take it anymore, she grabbed her aunt's hand as it was in the air. "Stop, I get it."

She looked satisfied as she backed away, "heal yourself and get to bed. We're training early in the morning, you better not be too weak then."

Her aunt left the tent as Aiyana healed her face, she hadn't done much damage, it wasn't like she had broken any bones this time. Aiyana cleaned the blood off her face before going over to her own bedroll. "I'm alright," she tried to convince herself before she broke down on the mat.
