Four years after Alex was born, he started his education. This education would be taken care of by his family members. His father suggested the idea that he learn at their home, so he couldn't be tainted by others' philosophies. Alex had a very tough learning regimen.
Firstly, Alex would have to learn concepts within the allotted time. He was normally given a week to a week and a half to learn something. Learning the letters of the alphabet took Alex only two days. By the end of the week, he knew the difference between vowels and consonants. Alex took a week to master third grade math.
Alex was a prodigy unlike any before him. The only problem was his random outbursts of violence and his sudden shift to a colder personality. Alex's father, Jacob, figured it would be best if Alex had breaks during his lessons. During the lessons, Alex could exert all of his energy and get back to learning.
Alex had three older siblings, two of which were male. The first one, Morris, took on the traits of Grav and Ath. The sister, Julia, carried the gifts of Beau and Lect. Lastly, David, had only Frii on his side. These sibling were raised in a situation that is preferable to what Alex is in.
Alex was the youngest of all of his siblings, but only he and Morris didn't get along. The other two siblings had no quarrels with Alex, so they treated him nicely. Alex was seven years old when his father started schooling him on how to control his emotions.
With the constant battle of Ath, Frii, and Grav in his head, he had trouble deciding which emotion he was feeling at any given time. His father and his created a method in which he could easily assess himself and what to do.
The first step was to evaluate what he thought he was feeling. If he had a guess, he could predict what he was going to do. After that, he would find the cause of his emotion. Finally, he would assess what he was feeling and act accordingly. This method has helped him a lot around his household.
After the year long battle that was his emotions, Alex started physically exercising. He would either play games outside with his siblings or do training exercises. After four years of doing that, Alex started goofing off. His dad wasn't pleased at all.
The first thing his dad did when he found out was punish him. The very first punishment that Alex ever received from his father was being locked in a pitch black room in the cold basement. The first time alex was locked in there was for a week. The more he kept goofing off, the longer punishment he received.
Eventually, his mother stepped in and convinced David to let him out of the room and send him off to Un. David did not like the idea at all. Kari, Alex's mom, brought up the fact that Alex had no friends outside of family members and he needed somewhere to socialize and see the real world.
Alex was finally released from his punishment, six months before he turned fifteen years old. Over the course of six months, Alex was taught how he should behave when representing the family and how others would behave before him.
"Alex, everyone is going to want to get closer to you because of who you are. You mustn't let those beneath you get close. Peasants only know how to lie, cheat, and steal from their superiors."
Alex thought he understood what his father meant, but he wasn't entirely sure. It wasn't until later in his life did he fully understand what his father meant. Alex spent his time learning from his father and a small amount from his mother.
When Alex left for Un, that was the first time he had seen other people besides his family. With his father's word reverberating in his head, he was paranoid of how everyone would act. The first thing he would need to do was to take the test to determine what would happen inside of Un.
