When you see a flower, so beautiful and pure, you want to pluck it and take it away from where it has laid it's roots. You so carelessly, pull it by the stem and break it off. Oh how great this flower looks, petals vibrant and reaching up towards the sunlight. They are hungry, ready for the wonderful light from the sky to replenish it's energy and allow them another day of life. When you pluck this flower, you have now just taken away it's source of nutrients. You have now just removed all of the assets keeping this beautiful plant alive. No longer does it sit around it's fellow flowers. It now sits in your hand until you are ready to throw it in a vase of water, in front of a window, so everyone who walks by can see it. You have taken this out of your own selfishness, because you have found it beautiful. The flower, so perfect for the first day of sitting in that window, now starts to wilt. Its petals no longer hold that vibrant color you were so attracted to. They now are starting to fall off, and tear. A couple days go by and this flower keeps fighting for survival, like we all do. It sits there and tries to strive in this new environment that clearly it wasn't made for. The circumstances that have been created for it make it weaker by day. No matter what you tell the flower, or how badly you want it to live on after you decided how it was going to spend it's days, it slowly dies. That gorgeous flower has now just died before it's time because you couldn't keep your hands off of it. Now picture that flower as a rose. It has the thorns on the stem. Clearly the thorns are there to tell you no. They are there as a defense so they can remain where they are rooted. Yet, we ignore the no's and the pain and still manage to pluck those. Not only do we pick them, we make them the symbol of love. Oh how lovely it is to pick a flower to die, just because we want to admire and behold the beauty of it for a short lived time.
