Elissa's POV
It was period two, which meant I had English. I didn't mind English. It was just easy, which made it boring. As the teacher tried to explain the assignment that was just given out, the class kept interrupting her. 'Props to you Miss. Having to deal with us teens,' I thought to myself. I wrote some notes down and highlighted some dot points that would be essential to getting a good mark later. I sighed and looked around. Everyone was doing their own thing, and I would have thought that the teacher would give up now, but she didn't. I'm surprised. She did try and get our attention a few times but slowly gave up as no one would listen to her. 'Poor teacher,' I thought.
Soon, the bell rang, and it was recess. I quietly packed my things up and walked out of the classroom. I walked to my usual spot and sat down, leaning against the tree. While taking my laptop out of my bag, a cherry blossom gently landed onto my nose. I smiled and logged onto my laptop. My friends came over and sat down in front of me. They greeted me, and I did the same back. "I swear, our class don't know how to keep their mouth shut. They're so fucking annoying," Chris complained. "Same thing with my class. I swear, one day I might accidentally throw my scissors at them," I said jokingly. Chris and Alex laughed, but Alex's laugh was a bit off. "Is something wrong, Alex? Your laugh was a bit off," I asked him. "You won't do that, right?" I stopped laughing and just stared at him. "Of course not," I said, smiling. He looked relieved.
"Can't believe we're in year 12 now. Time is going by so fast. Before we know it, we will be sitting our HSC exams," Chris said. "We should study together!" I suggested. They both agreed, and we chatted our recess away. The rest of the school day went by as usual — boring classes. The students not listening to their teacher and receiving more assignments. Before I know it, it was the end of the school day. My school bag felt so heavy with all the syllabus that was given by all my teachers. "I swear school is going to kill us by making us study to death," I mumbled to myself. As I was walking home, it started sprinkling. It was soft at first, but it turned into a bloody storm, so I ran home.
Once I unlocked the door, I slammed it open and quickly took my shoes off. I ran upstairs, trying not to slip in the process and sonic dashed into the shower. After a nice relaxing warm shower, I did my homework and started planning out my assignments. After all, a wise man said, "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail."
It was around 6 pm when I heard the doorbell ring. I didn't realise I have been studying for that long, so a break is good enough. I got up, walked down the stairs and opened the door. No one was there, but when I looked down, a small note was left. "What the fuck," I mumbled to myself. I picked the note up and walked into the kitchen. "Where were you?" My brother asked. "I was in my room. Why are you here? Don't you have a room at the university?" "Yeah, but I got hungry, and I was just around the corner so I thought I might as well pop in and grab something to eat." I nodded and started preparing dinner, putting the note into my pocket.
"Hey, Elissa. You never call me by my name. Why's that?" "Your name?" I chuckled. "Your name reminds me of someone I hate. Someone who did something very wrong not just to me, but to other people. I hate him." "And who is that person?" He asked. "My biological older brother. To think you guys have a lot in common, it almost makes me hate you a lot, but I can't cause I know you're not him. You're just a dickhead." He looked a bit down, and I sighed. "Brian. It's nothing to think about. Just get something to eat and go back to your dorm." I looked down at the floor and took a deep breath. After a while, dinner was made. Brian stayed for dinner since he liked my cooking, and we just sat in silence. He looked a bit upset, so I asked him a question. "Brian. You know him, don't you?" He was taken aback by the question and acted dumb. "Of course not. There is no way I would know him," he said nervously. I chuckled. "You sure?" I asked him as I got my phone out and showed a picture of him and Brian laughing together.
