Link and I were walking along the trunk of Vah Rutah. He was leading the way as I followed behind, not really paying attention to where I was stepping. I wasn't afraid of heights, nor water... so I didn't really care. However, Link did.
"You might want to watch your steps... you might fall," he says, with a cute worried pout. I would have told him 'Thank you', or 'I will', but I just responded with a "hm".
Link furrows his brows, but decides not to question it as we tread along.
After Link got his memories back, I did too. I realized that Link and the past Champion, Mipha, had loved each other. Link is great, and Mipha seemed like a sweet Zora. It was just...
I loved him too.
"Hey!" Link says waving his hand in front of my face. "Did you even hear what I said?"
"Something about Mipha?" I say rather harshly. He seems a bit taken aback by my tone.
"Uh... no, I was just telling you I'm about to lift up Vah Rutah'a trunk up with the Sheikah Slate. His brows are knit, and he still seems a little hurt at my tone.
I sigh. "Look Link, I wasn't- FUCK!"
I trip over... air? That's right, air, and I tumble over the side of Vah Rutah. I keep my hands on the edge while my body swings from the fall. Link hasn't even realized I'm on the verge of falling. I look down. Although I'm not afraid of heights or water, I suddenly realize I'm not the best diver... which means I would belly flop and, well... we all know what would happen then.
I try and pull myself up to no avail. I take my back and weapons with one arm and throw them onto Vah Rutah, to try and make it easier for myself, but it still didn't work.
'Of course,' I thought. 'I die without getting to confess to Link... not like he'd want me anyways...' I sniffle. And then a choked sob. I was holding in my cries, eyes closed tight as I cried. My hands were slipping with each sob.
"Hey (y/n)! We did - what? Where'd you go?"
I would have said "OVER HERE YOU OBLIVIOUS DICK!" but all that came out was another choked sob. He must have noticed my weapons haphazardly laying around and he ran to the edge. His eyes widened.
"(Y/N)! Don't cry! I know it's high up, but... don't be scared! I'll get you up!" He shouts.
"I'm not scared of falling!" He looks at me oddly.
"Uhhh... well you should be-"
"I'M CRYING BECAUSE I'LL NEVER GET TO TELL YOU I LOVE YOU!"

I could see his eyes widen as I shouted. By the time I said those three words, I was falling. I could hear his voice shouting in despair as I fell. It was all to no avail as I fell. My body slammed into the water and I gasped at the pain. My lungs filled with water... it burned. I thrashed around, trying to swim, but I was in too much pain, and was exhausted from crying and holding onto the Divine Beast.

After awhile, my eyes shut.

Forever.

Or so I thought...

"Lady (y/n)? Lady (y/n?! LADY-"
"I hear you, Prince Sidon," I choke out in between coughs.
"Oh thank goodness! I saw something odd in the water and the fish were acting strange. I dove in and found you! Oh you have no idea how worried I was! I couldn't let Sir Link lose his beloved-"
"UHHH HIS WHAT?"
"You know! Beloved? Lovers?"
"I do! But we aren't that!" His eyes sadden a little at that.
"That's what he said though..."
I almost fell back into the water from shock.
"Hey, hey, hey! It's okay? I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to shock you! I was just-"
"Don't apologize, Sidon." He stops and looks at me, and then smiles. "You saved my life. I owe you one."
"I'm still sorry for springing that on you though," He says while rubbing his neck.
"That's okay."
"Are you sure?"
"Now I will have the courage to confess to him... I think."
"IT IS SETTLED?" I jump at his sudden loudness.
"The hell? What are you tal-"
"I DECIDED HOW YOU CAN REPAY ME!"
I look at him funny.
"Well, okay, but you don't need to yell. You're a big dude. you got a loud voice."
"Oh oops! Haha..." He smiles and spreads his arms out. "Repay me by confessing to Link!"
"WHAT? SIDON I CANT! ILL DIE! WHAT IF HE REJECTS ME-"
"Hey, you just told me to stop screaming," he says with a pout. "And it's how you're going to repay me. You gotta do it."
I sigh. "Fine."
"Do you know what you'll say?"
"Uh.... no?"
"Okay, I have a plan........"
