A freak. That was her unofficial name in school, given to her by her lovely classmates and students. She had learned to ignore it and all the other slurs that were thrown at her multiple times in a week. Learned to ignore the videos there are of her even though the principle himself ordered everyone to delete them. Honestly, if Y/N could live in a world where someone didn't invent phones with cameras her life would be so much easier. Just one stroke. One stroke had happened during a school day and that was like four years ago but still, no one seemed to let her live it down.
Y/N stomped down the hallways, trying to be as calm and collected as she could. The other teenagers didn't make it easy to though, giving her strange looks and sympathetic smiles. I was like she was about to die in any second. It was possible, yes, but according to all the doctors she had spoken with said otherwise.
Her books felt heavy in her back bag. The strap kept digging into her through her thick winter jacket. The snow seemed to never end. Not that Y/N minded though, she enjoyed winter. When the snow fell down and lightened up the mood, Christmas and drinking hot chocolate while reading a book curled up in your own bed.
"Watch it," Someone bumped the girl. Y/N almost lost her footing but managed to stay up and not drop her bag into the snow. The much older student she recognized from the hallway looked at her with wide eyes.
"Yoo, Alex come on," His friend yelled from the distance. Alex scrunched up his eyebrows but turned around, walking over to his friend with his hands in his pockets. Y/N felt her cheeks blush.
"You didn't catch anything did you?" Alex' voice could be heard while Alex himself tried to dismiss the lame joke away. Y/N felt her heart sink and she walked double the speed back to the safe police box hidden in an alley.
She opened the door quietly and walked inside, making sure no one saw her dried tear on her cheek. Y/N placed her bag next to the stairs and took off her jacket, making all the snow fall onto the ground and wet the floor. Somewhere Tardis hummed and send a small warm breeze, a hug. Y/NN smiled to the room thankfully.
"Oh there you are," The Doctor said and took off her goggles. Her hair was all messed up and there were some oil stains on her shirt.
"Mom," Y/N questioned, suspicious of the Time Lord's appearance. "What happened? It looks like you defused a bomb?" She walked over to the panel, watching as The Doctor hustled with all the switched and tubes underneath the panel.
"Nah it's fine. Just don't go into the kitchen," Y/N rolled her eyes and sat down onto the small stool they had screwed onto the floor. Her mind kept replaying the scene with Alex from earlier, successfully downgrading her mood.
"Mum?" The doctor hummed as a yes from somewhere underneath the control panel. Y/N was kinda glad she couldn't see her face right now.
"How- why did you keep me? I mean," Y/N gave her a hammer before continuing. "You could've just left me into an orphanage. Why didn't you?"
The Time Lord breathed deeply before rolling from under the panel and wiping her hands. She had a small warming smile she always gave to Y/N when she was in doubt of herself. Y/N felt her sit next to her.
"I didn't want to leave you."
"Even though I'm faulty?" Y/N asked and a small pang in the Doctor's tummy almost made her puke. Quickly she wrapped a strong arm around the teenager's body, letting Y/N lean on to her.
"I took you because I thought you were brilliant. Because you were brave and kind. And alone..." She quietly added, feeling the reassuring scent of her child fill her nose. She savored it, suddenly glad that she had exactly her as her child.
"Because I saw some of me in you," Y/N nodded and looked down. The Time Lord squeezed a bit tighter and looked at Y/N's face. It still had some uncertainty in it. The Doctor kissed the top of her head, her eyes looking at the panel's direction but not actually seeing anything. Multiple memories of them together filled her head, making her smile slightly.
"We are all imperfect. That's what makes us perfect. I took you because I wanted you. Oh baby girl," She sighed and felt Y/N lean to her, "You are perfect."
