A/N: Sorry if this chapter feels a bit rushed. I was just trying to get something out.

The next week was surprisingly uneventful. The Cons didn't show their faces at all.

Optimus, though paranoid, took the opportunity while it was there.

"What are you doing?" You asked, looking at your lover in curiosity as you entered his room. Your wings flapped a little as you leaned against the doorframe. Optimus jumped in surprise.

"Oh um," he seemed flustered as he inserted two cans of oil into his subspace. "Well, because there hasn't been any Deception activity, and neither of us have monitor duty, I was hoping to take you out on a date."

You stepped forward and let the door slide shut behind you. You giggled. You loved seeing him blush. The sight of the hot pink blooming on his blue face made your spark flutter.

"I'm assuming it was supposed to be a surprise?" You laughed to yourself. He nodded in reply. "Need me to carry anything?"

"Oh! No, I think I've got everything we need. So, because you're here, we can-um, y'know-"

"Are we going to the park? Or somewhere else?" You tilted your helm.

"Yes! I was thinking by the shore? Sari said star-gazing was a romantic thing to do on Earth, and I thought that was a good spot to do it, so--does that sound like a good idea?" Optimus' unsureness was kind of endearing. He wanted very much for this first date to go perfectly. You never thought that could happen back in the Decepticons.

"Optimus," you said softly, taking his servos in yours, "that sounds great."

"Alright," he answered with a big smile and increased confidence, "let's go!"

The two of you walked out of the bathroom, servo in servo, heading for the base's exit. When you got there, you both transformed into your respective vehicle modes. You trailed behind Optimus, following him to the spot only he really knew.

The two of you head spent plenty of time alone and refueling together, offering to get each other's canisters for any time of day. You and him had cuddled and talked about all the randomest of things. What was his favorite color?  Had he enjoyed being a space bridge repair bot? The answers to which were blue, sort of (it was complicated), and a lengthy ramble about his favorite places to go in Iacon. You had asked more about his space bridge days. How he'd grown to enjoy his quirky crew of rejects, how they'd found the AllSpark.

Hed asked about your schooling and about Live Wire. You'd kept the answers vague, but he understood how painful your past was. You didn't care much for remembering it. You just wanted to make better memories with him, a sentiment which he heartily agreed with.

Optimus finally stopped amd transformed. You did the same and took note of your surroundings. You'd gone into the forest driven all the way to where the Great Lakes meet it. It was a clearing with the backside lined in a semicircle of trees. The grass was lush and flowers clustered around the tree area. The sun was setting, descending towards the horizon. The sky was almost cloudless.

You watched the Prime take out a giant blanket, one he had asked to borrow from you. Now you knew what for. He put it flat on the ground, close to the water, and smoothed out the creases and folded edges. The two cans of oil were set down in the middle. You and Optimus sat down on the blanket.
