As the mining drill slowly cut through the wall a sciopotometer went off, exploding in an eruption of sound. A man picked up the small machine and placed it in the palm of his hand, waving it around as if to wake it up. "Damn thing." He said after a while as the machine stopped suddenly. He pocketed the sciopotometer and walk on through the barren wasteland picking up salvageable parts of machines as he passed. He walked until a small sensor on his jacket activated, causing a small shock to go through his arm, alerting him immediately. He fell to the ground in pain, holding his hand as if it were shot off. As he slowly got up something caught his eye, it was a 5 inch wide object that looked to be the hilt of a sword. Realizing it could be useful he picked up a long pole from the ground and used it to pull the object passed the invisible barrier which stood between it and him. After it passed the transparent line he picked it up and examined it closely. It was a short, 10 inch by 5 inch cylinder with a button on one side and a clip on the other. He clipped it to the belt which hid under his jacket and trudged on. As the sun began to set he reached a star ship. 30 meters in length, this ship was meant for salvaging and carrying garbage. The man walked into the ship and towards a group of cabinets. He opened one of the cabinets and threw down a backpack, which contained his days work, 50 pounds of wreckage that looked useful to him. He then sat down in the cockpit of the ship and tapped the dashboard softly. The ship soon whirred into life as lights turned on all around the interior. The man tapped on the dashboard again, moving his finger around carefully. A sudden rumble shook the ship as the small vehicle lifted off the ground and into the upper stratosphere, leaving behind a circle of debris. As the darkness of space surrounded the star ship, the man got up from the cockpit and walked to the center of the ship. He sat down at his small, handmade desk and watched as a map of space whirred into view.
After half an hour a large object came into view as the ship flew in a straight path towards the object. The object was a large salvage station based out of the IO system, the center of which was a command point where workers dropped off all salvaged material. The outer ring however housed all the miners as it created gravity orbiting the command point. The ship entered the orbit of the station slowly as the man pressed a button on his desk. The ship veered left as it slowly landed on a docking pad on the outer ring. There was a sudden thump as the entryway burst open revealing a hallway. The man walked into the hallway and through the center of the outer ring, the hilt nudging his leg, he didn't notice. Back at the ship small robots entered the ship and took the salvaged material, carrying it to the man. The man reached a tall door. He tapped as it opened up revealing a small room resembling a cramped apartment. He walked inside and threw down his jacket. Behind him the small robots tapped his shoulder and dumped his salvaged material in a basket labeled: "sell". The man sighed and Allen to the door to confront the robot in the doorway, but before he reached him the robot zoomed down the corridor. "God dammit, come back here you bag of bolts!" The man yelled as he walked down the hall, making a sharp right onto a catwalk. The catwalk extended to the command center. As the man approached the entrance a speaker turned on above his head. "Welcome Tes 0019, Please state why your visiting the command center?" A mechanic voice screamed over his head. "Food!" Tes grunted knowing the door wouldn't enter. The door stayed still as Tes walked back down the catwalk. Back in his room Tes opened the blinds to the window. All Tes saw was space, as far as the eye can see.
Upon the command center, a disfigured alien creature with jet black horns pointing out of his head stared at the live feed of the exterior. The cameras moved around scanning for movement as a loud thump could be heard from outside the window.
The creature ran to the feed as a large ship loomed a few miles away, slowly approaching. The large ship was a Sirius-Federation devastator. The ship was built with hundreds of turrets tearing through the roof. The ship was built to destroy planets. The devastator fired two blasts into the catwalks of the small station. The structure shook as people panicked and ran amok. Tes looked around as the room shook. He ran to the window and saw the devastator, almost at eye level with him. The hilt tugged at his belt as a mask folded around Tes's face. "Damn security procedures." Tes mumbled as he knew this would protect him in the vacuum of space. A few blasts shook the outer ring as small homing trackers struck the rooms beside him. Tes cowered behind his bed as an explosion in the doorway pushed him forward sending him soaring towards the window. Tes looked behind him to see people panicking, fleeing down the hall, occasionally dropping dead from the group of troops rushing forward. The troops wore all black armor, the armor covered all the features that would identify which species they were. Tes walked backwards in horror as a blast tore through his window. The vacuum of space sucked him out into the vast plane of space. He looked at the station, parts of it torn open, the catwalks barely supporting the command center. Tes floated there, among debris and broken glass, a brief light from the holes of the outer ring shone on him. The devastator halted in front of him, the gigantic ship looming over him like a cat might a mouse. Inside the bridge of The Devastator, a man no less than 4 foot tall. Watched the masterpiece unfolding in front of his eyes. "I want no, I repeat, NO survivors." He yelled into a small microphone in his hand. Troops heard this message and began scavenging the ship, blasting all bodies until confirmed dead. Tes waited for something, anything to happen. Upon the bridge a small light appeared on a map of the situation, the light meant life, the light meant Tes. The man signaled into his microphone as two large cannons faced Tes, their barrels larger than an escape ship. Tes stared in horror as a blast of heat seared through his body, enveloping him in a cloud of smoke. A few moments later, it stopped as darkness fled over Tes. Inside the bridge, the man watched as the smoke cleared revealing no body whatsoever. He tapped a button on his screen and ordered everyone to retreat
