Dipper placed buckets of soapy water around the ink-stained areas since they were too heavy for Billy to lift. The demon set to work scrubbing the ink off everything, starting in the kitchen which was the most inky. The basement was worse, but Dipper wanted the kitchen cleaned first "This is boring!" Billy whined as he cleaned off the ink from the floor, his noodle arms were tired. "Yes, well, it's your mess, you made it, you fix it" Dipper said, he was making dinner, chopping up onions and filling the kitchen with delicious smells as the pan sizzled and the meat browned.

Billy could smell the food and it made him hungry, his mind went to the ink in the storage "How much ink is left?" Billy asked, dropping the now black sponge into the bucket with a splosh. Dipper stopped cutting the vegetables and glanced down at him "Not enough, you hungry?" Dipper asked, Billy nodded "You'll have to wait I'm afraid, there isn't a lot there and we need most of it to start the machine" Billy sighed and picked the sponge back up, going back to his work. Once the Ink Machine was fixed, the better.

Billy watching him eat was unnerving, Dipper put his fork down as the demon let out a huff "Can I help you?" he asked with a raised eyebrow, Billy chuckled "I'm sorry, it just smells so good" Billy said clutching his soft toy, which he had brought up from the basement, to his chest. Dipper frowned "You don't have a nose" the young adult pointed out, Billy chuckled "I don't use my mouth to speak, yet I still talk" Billy said, Dipper picked his fork back up "Good point"

Stanford smiled as he listened to Billy babble on about his day, he had missed this connection. He heard Billy cry and his face drooped, he wanted to hug him "I miss you" Billy's childish voice said sadly, a small hand patted his own and he sighed "I miss you too son" he said, his voice echoing in the inky darkness.

The next day Dipper continued his work on the Ink Machine. Billy was happy to know he would get to eat soon. "How old are you now, Billy?" Dipper asked as he fitted the glass into the glass-free space, holding it in place as he sealed it up with glue. Billy stopped drawing and looked up, eye confused "I don't understand"

"How many years has it been since you were born?"

"Six and a bit," Billy said, Dipper smiled "Your six years old, you need a birthday," Dipper said.

Billy put down the yellow crayon, now just a nib "What do you mean?"

Dipper put down the glue on the floor beside him and turned to him "Well, every year your supposed to celebrate the day you were born, it's what people do, they have cake and presents-" the demon let out a loud happy squeal "I LOVE CAKE!" he said happily "Well the recipe for it looked good anyway, I ate the pages, they had ink in them," Dipper sighed and face palmed "So you ate the recipe books? I was wondering where they had gone too," Dipper said a little annoyed, Billy nodded "I was hungry, they had ink in them, I could smell it"

Dipper chuckled "I needed those books! Never mind, what about presents? Do you like those?"

Billy nodded and picked up his soft toy "Father gave me this as a present once" Dipper slowly let go of the glass and the waterproof glue he had put around it held it tightly in place, he smiled "When all this is over I'll throw you a party"

"Why would you throw it to me? What if I can't catch it?" Billy asked looking confused. Dipper burst into laughter "Never mind"
