Piper's p.o.v

"Sweetie, where are you?" My mom calls. Giggling that my mom gave up looking for me, she soon found my hiding spot. "Piper! Are you hurt?" She yells inspecting me. I always won hide and seek. It was unfair for me because my mom has a wolf and I don't. I had to go out of my way to find the best hiding spots or the most dangerous. She would never think I would hide there. This one frightened her the most I guess.

"Why would you hide in the torture wardrobe?!" She cried out. I giggled as I hugged her and ran off to Silvia, my biggest sister. She was in the kitchen making me brownies for my school bake sale. " I want to help, please?" I begged. "The last time you 'helped' the kitchen caught on fire," Silvia said annoyed with my behavior. "I told you it was a misunderstanding between me and the burner," I whined out at her scolding.

Just as Silvia was going to grab me, Valery and her mate, Patrick, walked in the kitchen breaking the tension. Valery and Patrick are opposites that attract. Valery was quiet most of the time. Very different from Silvia who likes to boss me around. My sisters are my best friends, but also bullies. They like to dress me up like them. We really don't need another Silvia. "Dad needs more coffee?" Silvia asks Valery.

Valery just nods and pours another mug of coffee. Mason, my oldest of siblings and my only brother, walks in with a barely dressed she-wolf clinging to his arm. "Mason I'm glad you're up! Oh." Silvia says dropping a brownie. I wander around the girl clinging to my brother, I inspect her neck.

"What is that funny spot on her neck? A disease!" I gag at the thought of being around her. A huge blush came over her. "Get out of here already!" Jenny shouts at the girl. Jenny is my third sister and the most optimistic. The she-wolf ran out of the kitchen with her tail in between her legs. "Really sis?" Mason trails off.

"Pip, I packed your brownies. You just need to grab your lunch and walk to school." Silvia says handing me a box full of my favorite dessert. I hugged my family goodbye and walked to school prepared.

"I'm walking, off to school I go. I'm walking, to school. I sure don't miss you. Or you. But off I go." I sang over and over again. "I'm skipping, off I go. I don't miss you too." I sang louder and started putting pip in my step. I reached the halfway mark skipping up to the koi pond. I heard a low growl and the next thing I knew I was drowning and bleeding out from the claw marks on my back. And then darkness.

I wish I never left. Maybe he would've lived. Watch me grow up. Walk me down the aisle. Be the grandpa to my children. Teach them. Nevertheless, I can't change the fact that he's gone because of me. I wished the darkness swallowed me whole but him saving me was his last action. He wanted to keep me safe and alive. And that's what I will be. I woke up without a father.
