Sitting on the floor of the apartment complex she shared with her fiance, Amara stared at the wall. There had been one thought in her head as she waited for Rose to get back from work.
Did Rose understand what love was?
Her brain had been swirling all day with the anticipation to ask her fiance. The thoughts swirling around and around giving her a headache.

Does Rose truly love her?  Of course she does! Why else would she propose?

Yeah but if you consider her past she might not have the best  view of love. And you fixed that didn't you?

I guess but I still have the right to be worried. Sure.

With all the internal arguing she didn't here the apartment door creek open or the footsteps of her wife-to-be. At least not until a gentle kiss was placed against her forehead.

"What are you doing?" Rose asked.

"Thinking"

"And what might you be thinking about?"

"You"

"Can I know what your thoughts on me are?"

"No"

"And why is that?"

"Because I have to ask you a question"

"So let me here it"

"Can you tell me what love is?"

Rose went silent, thinking of a way to answer this question. After what felt like an eternity she realized her answer. Turning towards Amara she spoke,

"Love is something you FEEL not something you explain. It doesn't feel like a strong lust for someone or a caring friendship. It feels more like both. A subtle lust that makes you care for someone while also wanting to make sure that they are happy. Wanting to be with them."

This answer surprised Amara, she thought of countless of scenarios but this wasn't one of them.

And that made her happy.

She could feel the tears forming on her eyes as she reached in to hug Rose.

"Thank you"

"For you it was no problem"

And they stayed in that position, cuddling on the floor by the door, for a good hour. Enjoying the warmth the other's presence brought. The silence bringing a peaceful vibe to the place.
That is until someone interrupted it.

"So you wanna get Chinese or Thai?"

Oof I feel like this is the longest one.
