(Jack's POV)"La! La! La! Lala la! La! La! Lala la! La! La! Lala la! Lala la! Wee!"
Singing and laughter filled the air as I emerged from the fountain for my big finish. This Halloween was probably the most horrible yet! (A/N... He doesn't mean that is was a bad Halloween. That's just how they talk. He means it was the greatest Halloween ever.) I stepped out of the fountain, looking around for my dear Sally. She wasn't any wear in sight. "Another terrifying Halloween, Jack!" I looked down at the mayor as he said those words. "Indeed!" I replied. "You can go ahead and start announcements for prizes and rewards. I have to go find Sally. You thing you can manage?" The mayors smiling side of his head had turned to his uneasy side. "Are you sure?" I nodded, and off I went.
But, something was wrong. As soon as I ran off to find Sally, I was suddenly at the top of Spiral Hill. "Spiral Hill!? What am I doing here? I was just in Halloween Town. This is odd... I should head back." The same thing happened. In the blink of an eye, I was right at the front door of Dr. Finkelstein's lab. "What? It happened again? Hmm..." I shrugged it off, thinking that my mind was playing tricks on me. I rang the doorbell, probably in hopes of seeing Sally, but it was Igor who answered. "Igor, have you seen Sally?" I asked. "Not really. Igor was too busy helping doctor." As you can probably tell, Igor can't really talk normally like anyone else in town. That doesn't stop him from trying, though.
"Do you have any idea where she could be?" I asked, once more. Igor shrugged, but he told me that I should go check Spiral Hill, even though I was just there. I sighed, and started towards the hill again. Once again, I blinked and I was at the hill again. Sally was right in front of me! I honestly felt my nonexistent heart race. But, that feeling stopped when she didn't even turn around to look at me. She'd never ignore me when we'd meet up here. Why now?
"Sally? Are you okay?" I asked, trying to get her attention. I got no answer. "Sally?" My voice got a bit quieter. This isn't like her. She'd never ignore me! "S-Sally?" My phantom heart started to ache at the thought of her hating me. I felt a bit relived when she turned to look at me. However, when she faced me, I notices that her eyes were missing and her mouth was sewn shut. I stepped back in shock. "S-Sally!? What happened!? W-where are your eyes?" I was terrified at the thought of someone hurting her. Then, evil laughter sounded from all around me. I looked around to find the source, only to look back and see Sally turning to dust.
"Sally, no! Not you!" I called out to her, but it was too late. She was gone. I felt a throbbing pain in my chest as I watched her fade away from me. Everything went black. Ghostly tears dropped from my eye sockets. I felt so... So... Empty... I haven't felt this in what would seem like forever. I had lost the only person that gave me strength and showed she cared. She kept me going. Now she's gone. Forever...
With a jolt, I rose up from my bed. "N-no! Don't go!" I yelled, knowing that I was home. I gasped, then sighed, relived it was only a dream. I looked outside to see a couple monsters roaming the streets. "Morning already?" After a few minutes of dressing in my usual attire, I left my house and, with a bit of worry, decided to visit Sally. However, she was already making her way to the town square. "Sally! Thank goodness!" I ran up to her and hugged her lightly. "Jack? Are you okay?" It was so nice to hear her voice. "I think so. I had such a nightmare last night. I thought I had lost you forever..." I felt surprised at the sudden kiss on my cheek. "Jack, you know that you'll never loose me. I'm always here by your side, no matter what." Those words brought phantom tears to my nonexistent eyes.
"I love you, Sally."
"I love you, too, Jack."
That laughter still echoed in my mind, however... It sounded familiar. Who was it?
