A Choice to Make

Down,down,down,down.....down father still until I land with a thump on the cold snowy ground. I rub my head, and try to stand up from where I landed after the wall of oak I was standing on collapsed, and I fell. "I'm lucky that the oak wall fell away from me, and not on top of me." I mutter softly under my breathe, watching the small cloud of mist come out of my mouth. THe snow is falling heavier now, and it is getting harder to see, and make out where I am going. The music from before is even louder now, I can make out a melody and it chills me to the bones. The song is still too far away from me to make it out very clearly, but I must be getting closer to the source of it. My feet start to move again towards the music, and the voice that whispered in my ear cheers me on. "Faint one good....you listened to my call.....you followed my lead and made it over the forest wall......but now you will have....two more tests to face......before we can meet.....and I can save you from this place....". This makes my feet move faster, and soon I am running through the heavy snow. The snow seems to start avoiding falling on me, as if someone or something is telling the snow to leave me alone. I keep running as the forest seems to come alive. The trees grow taller and look as if they are bending down to greet me as if I am someone royal. The snow starts to fall less and only falling on my head, making a small layer of light snow covering my hair, turning it from its normal raven black color to a light gray color, and the few pieces of snow that fell from my head onto my face brought out my emerald green eyes. I smiled a small bit, and danced around in the snow once I stopped running. A soft warm glow starts to appear deeper into the woods, and I can feel the warmth coming from that area. I start to walk toward, seemingly leaving a path that was made through the woods, as the trees seemed to breathe and sigh while moving out of the way. They also spoke to me, "Young mortal, what has brought you to our land?.......It seems we all know someone like you.....Tell us....What is thy name?" I stop walking and I turn to look at the trees.

"My name is Angela Mattina Bjarkardottir. I come here into these woods to escape my world for a time. I mean no harm, gentle trees of the forest." I say, as I do a small bow to the trees, and they bow back towards me. "Tell me good, kind trees. Where am I? I do not remember ever being in this part of the woods before." I ask them, humble and soft. I am normally soft-spoken as I have grown up being told that ladies who are loud and boastful never find a husband. My mother and father are old fashioned, and if they found out about my nightly adventures in the forest, they would forbid me to go to the only place I can get away from them.

"Young Angela, sweet and kind, this part of the forest is no place for one such as you. You have entered the land of the Fey, Rulers of the world hidden from mortal eyes. Leave quickly, before you fall victim to his lies." The trees say, before the voice in my head speaks to me again. The voice sounded harsher than before, and more possessive, almost making me wish to turn and run back home, to tell my mother about what happened, and watch her forbid me to ever go back into the woods again.

"Faint one.......do not listen to the trees....they do not speak the truth.....this is your second test to make your way to me......you must choose who you will listen to, and take their advice.......Me or the trees.......the choice is yours.....but beware.....there is danger in store.....". I hear the voice call out to me in my mind, and now I must make a choice. To trust the trees who bow down to me like I am their queen, or the voice who so far has done nothing wrong to me? This decision is a hard one to make, and I do not know if the choice I will make is right. But I feel as if I don't make my choice, I will lose either way......I must act swiftly to avoid my fate that is the rising dawn......I can only pray that the choice I make is right........It's now or never......Crunch.......Crunch.......Crunch.
