The next day, we go back to the hospital and meet with the doctor who let us look at the remains of the last two bodies.
"You wanted me to tell you if there were any more weird deaths, well here's one," the doctor says then lifts the sheet covering a dead body. The body is of a man who looks as if he's pregnant. "This man used to weigh four hundred pounds until he got a gastric bypass. Then the other night, he decided he was going to go on a twinkie binge."
"So he died from a twinkie binge?" Sam asks.
"Well, he did when his band around his stomach burst, and before that he ate until he practically exploded. When he couldn't swallow anymore, he decided to shove the twinkies down his throat with a toilet brush," the doctor replies.
I gag at the thought. What would make someone do that? "What do you make of this then?" I ask.
"I don't know, but it's a pretty crazy thing to do," the doctor replies then pulls out a flask and begins to drink from it.
We leave after we check out the body. "Okay, so this body wasn't marked by Cupid but his death is still pretty suspicious," Sam says to Dean through the phone.
I can hear Dean on the other end. "Yeah, well, I went through police reports. This has been the ninth suicide in a week and there have been nineteen overdoses in the past month."
"If this is a pattern, then it isn't just love. It's a lot bigger than we thought," Sam replies.
"Yeah, I'll see you in ten," Dean says then Sam hangs up the phone. I start to get in the car when Sam stares over towards the door; there's a man in a suit walking out with a briefcase.
"You okay, Sam?" I ask.
"Huh? Oh yeah, I'm fine. It's just..." then he trails off and starts to follow the guy.
"Sam," I call out to him. He seems very intent on following this guy and he won't listen to me, so I follow after Sam. I stay close behind, and we end up in an alleyway. He pulls out a knife, and it's the knife that can kill demons.
He waits a second until the guy is right there in front of him and pushes him up against a wall, the knife being held at his throat. "I know what you are," Sam says then slices his face.
He screams in agonizing pain — it's a demon. "Winchester," the demon says in reply. "How did you know?"
"I could smell you," Sam says. He could smell him? I couldn't smell any sulfur or anything. What is Sam on and where can I get some? Sam cuts his arm which makes him drop his briefcase.
He swings the knife again, but doesn't hit him. The man then runs off while leaving his briefcase in the road. I stand there as I watch Sam stare at the blade. He looks as if he wants to lick the blood off. He must be going into withdrawals from the demon blood. I rush over to him, then pick up the briefcase and bring it back to the car. "What would a demon need with a briefcase?" Dean asks when we get back to the motel and show him the briefcase.
"Believe me, I've got no idea," Sam replies.
Dean looks at him for a moment then asks, "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'll be fine," Sam replies.
"Alright, well let's crack this open," Dean says. "I mean what's the worst that could happen?" Then Dean smiles.
"What's the worst that could happen?" I say, mimicking him.
He looks at me very sternly. Sam and Dean crouch down and look at the buttons on the briefcase. They push the buttons, and the briefcase clicks open. When it opens, I'm blinded by a bright light coming from the briefcase. It takes a few seconds for it to die down, then Dean says, "What the hell was that?"
