AWAKENING

Chapter Four: The Visitor

When I came to, I had no idea where I was. I laid on the ground for a bit. My head felt like it was going to explode. I sat up slowly and looked around. Everything was still and not in your usual way. The creatures I fought were frozen in the air and the blast of lightning I had released was frozen in the air. Realizing what was going on I started to panic and looking frantically to find something that wasn't frozen in time. I dropped to my knees, and my head began hurting more. I let out a scream of pain and fear. "There is no need for that" a very familiar voice from behind me said. I stopped screaming and took a deep breath and slowly turned around and got up. When I turned around I froze. "Impossible..." I said as I looked into the eyes of my best friend. "I saw you die? How are you here?" I said getting closer. She shut her eyes and nodded. "Yes I did die, and yes this seems very impossible, but there are some things you must know and we don't have a lot of time" she opened her eyes and looked at me. "What? You're dead but still talking to me? That doesn't make any sense if anything that.." she put a hand on  my mouth and told me to be quiet and let her speak. I nodded in approval. "Thank you, anyways, that thing you saw crawl out of the ground a couple of days ago, want to know where it came from?" I nodded and said "Yes" she grabbed my hand and lead me to the intersection up the street. The ground shook and began to break underneath us. "Before you see this, promise you won't freak out" I said "promise".

The ground underneath us suddenly opened up and we fell. But we were also still standing upright. It felt weird. We fell another five minutes and we suddenly stopped at a large opening. There was an ocean of magma. "What is this place?" I asked. She stood silent for a moment and said "Hell". I went quiet and thought to myself REALLY? HELL? WAS IT EVEN REAL? WHY?

She looked at me and explained. "Hell is real and so is heaven" she paused "heaven?" I said confused. "Two hundred years ago at the break of the great war, heaven and hell were still at relative peace with each other, but as more people began dying and dying and the population grew to a bare million or so survivors God stepped in and asked Lucifer to release his unholy demons into the world to 'clean up' the mess we made so many years ago. The screechers, the slender monsters, and the behemoths, All come from Hell. Now hell is packed with to many damned souls and that heaven has since closed its doors to everyone" she stopped and looked at me. "Okay this is a lot to take in, wait I have a question, where did these" I paused for a seconded, "powers come from?" she turned away. "God gave me the ability to stop time and communicate with the last friend I had whenever I so choose. Lucifer gave you the ability to level entire cities, under enough stress of course, you also have the ability to create any weapon you so choose, courtesy of God" I stood there and tried to understand everything "you can also control the titans" she added. "But don't ask me how because I don't know. I better take you back now" in a second we were back at the intersection. She looked at me and gave me a hug. "Please don't die" she said quietly.

I woke up back on the ground and surrounded by flames. She wasn't lying, time really did stop. I got up and ran for the water tower back where I came from. As I was running a slender climbed from the rubble and began running towards me. It screamed and hissed as it ran. I slid around a corner and ran faster. I pulled out my gun and began firing behind me. I hit it once in the stomach and twice in the leg. It didn't slow down. It got faster, and faster. I put the gun away and looked at my hand. It began to pulsate bright red. My fingers were sparking and my head was concentrated on killing the damn thing. I slid to a stop, spun around, and held up my hands and out shot two bolts of red lightning. The creature went flying backwards and turned to dust. I turned back around and ran the rest of the way to the water tower.
