Chapter 30

(1 week later)
*Spencer POV*
Harper and I just got back from our week long trip and it was really nice. It was something that we really needed. We spent a lot of time talking with each other and having civilized fights about our thoughts and emotions. Now we are ready to see everyone especially Leilani and Kekoa.
"Hey Spence when are they picking us up" Harper asks
"They should be here already" I say
"I don't know. I tried calling and texting Kekoa and he didn't answer" she says
I pull my phone out and call Leilani.
L-hello
S-hey Lani is someone picking me and Harper up from the airport
L-yeah. Kekoa and I are here. We just got here and if Harper tried calling Kekoa his phone is dead.
S-okay. We'll come out to you
I hang up and see Harper grabbing our bags.
"Leilani and Kekoa are outside. Kekoa's phone died. That's why he didn't answer at all" I say
"Okay" she says
We grab our bags and head outside. We spot them and walk over to them. We put our bags in the back and I go get in the passenger seat next to Leilani who is driving.
"How was the trip" she asks
"It was really good" I say
"Yeah we really needed it" Harper says
"That's good. Was it civilized talking or" Kekoa asks
"There was some yelling but I think we needed to yell and get our anger that was building up inside, out" I say
"Alright well the guys wanted to see the two of you so everyone is at Joey and Jewel's place" Leilani says
"Okay" Harper says
After an hour we arrive to Joey and Jewel's. We get out of the car and all of four us walk in going to the living room. Once we walk in no one looks at us and focuses on the tv where they are watching wall-e.
"What's the point of us coming if they aren't going to acknowledge us" I whisper to Harper
"I don't know. Let's go" she whispers back
We turn around but before we can leave Joey comes walking down the stairs with Alejandro and Harper runs over to them.
"Oh hey twins" chad says
"When did y'all get here" Caleb asks
"Five minutes ago. You all are toobusy watching tv" I say
"Yeah oh well" Jewel say
"How was your trip" Kelsey asks
"It was good and needed" Harper says
"I'm glad" Fallon says
"What did we need to talk about" I ask
"Oh yeah. When is the wedding that we need to go to Hawaii for" Joey asks
"Kekoa and I are going out next week to help with the setting up for the wedding since we are both part of it but you all don't need to go to Hawaii until a week after" Harper says
"Ok. So we are still able to get work done. We won't need you at all Harper since you're really only used for concerts." Caleb says
"Yeah. Fallon when are you due?" Harper asks
"In three months. So October" Fallon say
"Ok. They twins could share a birthday with us" I say motioning at me and Harper
"That's not gonna happen" Chad says
"How do you know" Harper asks
"It's not going to happen. I'm not going to let it happen" chad says
"Yeah okay" Fallon says
"Well if you guys do not need us anymore, I'm going to head out" I say
"Why" Chad asks
"To unpack and hang out with my girlfriend" I say
"Fine. You may leave. Are you leaving Harper" Chad asks
She doesn't respond.
We look over and her and Kekoa are playing with Alejandro.
"They'll make good parents someday" Kelsey says
"Yeah. Someday" I say
"Come on Spence let's go. Your sister and Kekoa can get a ride from someone" Leilani says
"We have her bag" I say
"We'll drop it off on our way" she says
"Okay. See ya everyone." I say
They all say goodbye and Leilani and I head out.
*Harper POV*
I hear the door shut and I look up from Jano.
"Who left" I ask
"Your brother" Fallon says
"What about my stuff? How are we getting home" I ask
"He'll drop your stuff off at your place and one of us will take the two of you home" Jewel says
"Okay" I say
I then return my focus to Jano.
"Hey Joey and Jewel when does he turn one" Kekoa asks
"Oh gosh. One week" Joey says
"Yeah. August 23" Jewel says
"Ok" Kekoa says
"Hey Harper can us guys talk with you" Caleb asks
"Yeah I guess" I sigh
I pass Jano off to Kekoa and go over to the guys. We then go out back and sit around the picnic table.
"So your week away was good" Caleb asks
"Yeah" I say
"You and Spencer are on better terms
"Yes we are. We spent a day or two talking about our differences and then spent some time just bonding and exploring" I say
"Good. You two deserve to be happy and together after 20 years of not knowing each other." Chad says
"Yeah I guess" I say
"What do you mean 'I guess'? You and you're brother deserve to be together" Joey says
"Do you really think that" I ask
"Yes We do. You and he deserve to be together. You deserve to have all these people with you. You have been through so much and deserve to be happy" Caleb says
"Thanks guys" I say
"You're welcome." Chad says
We go inside and I don't see Kekoa anywhere.
"Where's Kekoa" I ask
"He's on the phone" Kelsey says
Kekoa comes in to the living room and I see tears in his eyes.
"Whats wrong" I ask
"I just got a call from Danny. Steve's been hurt and it's not looking good." Kekoa says
"What" I ask feeling tears come to my eyes
"I have to go to Hawaii and see him." Kekoa says
"I'm coming with. Guys can you let my brother and Leilani know" I ask
"Of course. Come on I'll give you guys a ride to the airport" Joey says
We go out to his care and get in. He starts it up and drives to the airport. We get out and I go over to him.
"Call us if you need anything  and I mean anything." He says
"I will. Thank you Joey." I say
We wait for a bit in the airport and then our flight gets called. We get on the plane and find our seats. We sit down and I lean into Kekoa a bit. He kisses the top of my head and then looks out the window. We stay this way until we get to Hawaii. And as soon as we are able to get off the plane we do. We enter into the airport and I spot Lou. Kekoa and I run over to him.
"How's Steve" Kekoa asks
"He's hanging in there, but right now they are saying that it is only a forty percent chance of him making it" Lou says
"Oh gosh" I gasp
I look at Kekoa and he has a straight face. I grab his hand but he pulls it away. I look at Lou and he gives me a soft smile. We all then walk out of the airport and to Lou's vehicle. He starts it up and we go to the hospital. We get there and go up to the fourth floor. We walk through some hallways and then walk through some double doors. I look around and it is a waiting room filled with people. People who care about Steve and Steve made a difference in their life. Kekoa walks over to Danny and Lou follows him. Junior and Tani come over to me.
"You okay" Junior asks
"Yeah" I say
"You sure? You don't have to hold your emotions in. It's okay to let them out" Tani says
"I haven't known Steve that long. I'm fine." I say
"Harper it doesn't matter how long you know Steve. You might have only know him a few minutes but he probably would've made a difference in your life. I know he means something to you. It's okay to be upset." Junior says
"He helped me and my brother so much. He helped us grow closer to each other" I say slowly
Before I know it tears are streaming down mine and Tani's face and Junior is comforting the two of us.
"I have a feeling this has to do with more than just Steve" Junior whispers
I nod my head.
Next thing I know Adam takes Tani and continues to comfort her and Junior guides me out of the room and we find somewhere to talk.
"What else is this about" he asks
"Kekoa" I mumble
"What about him? Did he hurt you" he asks
"No. Not physically" I say
"What is it" he asks
"I don't know. It's just that I tried to grab his hand and comfort him at the airport but he pulled it away" I say
"I know it hurts Harper. You care about Steve and Kekoa. You want to be strong for Kekoa and be his rock but you also want to break down because you worry about Steve. With Kekoa he doesn't want to show his emotions to you because he thinks he's suppose to be strong in front of you. He's known Steve for a long time and Steve has done so much for him. I'm sure everything will go back to normal soon and Kekoa will realize that he hurt you emotionally. Right now his main focus is Steve because Steve is like a father to him" Junior says
"Yeah I guess you are right" I say
"Of course I am. Now come on let's go back to the others" Junior says
I agree and we walk back to everyone. Just as we walk in a doctor appears.
"Wow. This is a lot of people" he says
"Is Steve alright Doc" Danny asks
"We just finished doing another surgery to get the rest of the bullet out. It went well. He is stable and should wake up within the hour and then people can see him two at a time" the doctor says
"Thank you" Danny says
the doctor leaves and we all let out a breath of relief. Junior goes over to Tani and I go sit down in a corner. After a bit I feel someone sit next to me. I look to my side and see Kekoa. I cuddle into his side and he wraps his arms around me.
"Steve's going to be alright" he whispers
"Yeah" I reply
"I'm sorry I pushed you away" he says
"It's okay." I say
We sit here in comforting silence until my phone vibrates. I look and see it's a FaceTime from my twin. I answer it and Kekoa and I walk away from everyone.
S-hey sis, Kekoa how his Steve
K-the doctor says he is okay and should be awake soon.
S-that's good. Do you want me a Leilani to come
H-no it's okay. I think Kekoa and I are just going to stay here until the wedding is over
S-okay. We'll be up in a few weeks for wedding
K-okay. See ya later Spencer
S-bye sis and Kekoa. Also Kekoa take care of my sister
K-I will. Don't worry
I hang up and go back. We go into the waiting room and Danny and Adam are just coming back in.
"Kekoa why don't you go in with Lou" Danny says
"I'll wait to go in with Harper" Kekoa says
"I'll be okay. Go in with Lou and see Steve." I say
He sighs but agrees. He and Lou walk out and I go over to Danny.
"How is Steve" I ask
"He's fine. He was already making jokes when I walked in" Danny says
"Okay. What even happened to him" I ask
"Well we got a case and we were working on it and then Steve was being Steve and as he was chasing after the guy who was shooting Steve got shot but kept going and as he and the guy were wrestling Steve got shot again right before Junior got to where they were and shot the guy and killed him" Danny says
"Wow. Okay" I say
Kekoa and Lou come out and Junior and Tani go in. Kekoa comes over to me and kisses my cheek then wraps his arm around me.
"You good" I ask
"Yeah I'm good" he says
A few minutes later Tani comes out and I go in. I guess Junior stayed in so I didn't have to be in there by myself. I go in and sit down next to Steve's bed.
"Hey Steve" I say
"Hey Harper. You okay? Junior told me about Kekoa shrugging you off a bit" he says
"Wow, you're the one we should be worried about yet you're worrying about me. But yeah I'm better. How are you" I ask
"I'm good. Bad thing is I'm not allowed to work for two weeks" he says
"I think we got it covered boss. We need you healthy for the wedding" Junior says
"Yeah yeah yeah" McGarrett says
"Don't be so nonchalant boss or else Tani will kill you and she definitely won't have anyone to walk her down the aisle" Junior blurted our
"What" Steve asks
"Um nothing" he says and runs out
A few minutes later we hear Tani yell his name and Junior running down the hall. Tani comes in and I go to leave but she tells me to stay.
"Steve, my parents aren't around and you have truly become Obama to me and made a big difference in my life so would you walk me down the aisle" Tani asks
"What about your brother" Steve asks
"Oh he wants nothing to do with that. He doesn't really want to be at the wedding and I don't know why" Tani says
"Well then, I'd be honored to walk you down the aisle" Steve says
"Thank you. Harper, would you be my maid of honor" she asks
"Of course" I say
We say good bye to Steve and walk out. We go over to everyone and we talk for a bit then split up. Kekoa and I go with Junior back to McGarrett's house. We eat dinner, watch tv for a bit, then we head to bed after a long day.
