The stench of blood engulfed my lungs.

A man wearing blue scrubs passed by. He carried a recycling bag filled with empty bottles. The red snake logo embedded on his shirt told me I was at the right place.

"Ugh."

I dreaded going inside. If this was normal, what happens during a war?

Opened the sliding door and went inside. Funny, I thought there would be much tighter security.

It took some effort, but I finally managed to locate Helen. Thankfully, a few nurses on their way out gave me directions.

I chuckled a bit and grabbed my nose. "You stink."

She was bandaged from head to toe.

Helen smirked. At least her face was fine... compared to the rest of the body. An expert such as myself can estimate-

"You are?"

"Oh, ah! Right! I'm her little br- uh, sister." I cleared my throat to avoid suspicion.

"Hmm."

She gave me the side eye then looked towards Helen, who nodded.

"Very well."

"She has issues." Helen made a bold move, while I kept a poker face.

"Hmm, I see." The nurse smacked her lips, uninterested and outright informed me, "Well, your older sister, Contestant No. 21 is perfectly healthy and will not be requiring a small potion. In two days she will recover just fine; it is recommended she rests and isn't bothered."

After inspecting me from head to toe and scanning my face, she left. I guess participants do raise a red flag? Then why not just add some freakin' guards at the entrance!? Saves us all the trouble. I really can't trust these people.

"Rude." I whispered under my breath.

Helen chuckled.

"Glad someone's having fun." I sighed.

Is it because I've been so laser-focused about Fred lately? Why is my heart beating so fast? Helen's perfectly fine, isn't she?

Memories from before kept piling up. It's been a few years since they had stopped... why now?

"When are you up?" Helen asked, snapping me back to reality.

"Oh- umm... not yet?"

"I know you'll be fine." Helen exclaimed with a calm voice, "What I worry is... no, this is a request of mine, but please be ready with your match against Carmine."

"I don't understand...?"

Helen sighed, then looked at me and sighed once more.

"Glow, do not underestimate your older sister and fight head on. That kind of habit is rude."

I gulped. "She knew."

"Besides," Helen continued, "Carmine's reason for participation is you."

"Wh- no, wait, what?! Me?"

"Mhm." Helen nodded.

"Why-"

"Emergency, Code Yellow. I repeat... code yellow..." Lucy's voice crackled through the walkie-talkie, "an unidentified person has been spotted leaving the spectator's booth. Assumed color, Brown. We need you Gloria. Please be on route 11."

A few seconds passed in complete silence. The awkward situation wasn't easy to explain and frankly, I didn't want to either...

"What was that?" Helen's eyes met mine and her scary face said it all.
