An Interview on one of her oldest books, the one that started it all ~ Paper Trails

⋄ ⋄ ⋄

Q: What was your inspiration for this story?

A: Funnily enough, it was inspired by a Kingdom Hearts fanfiction I had written as a teenager. I'm not sure where the idea for that fanfic came from though. I guess just from the "artist" and "skater" tropes between Roxas & Namine.

Q: Who was your favorite character from Paper Trails?

A: Griffin!

Q: Was there anyone significant you felt didn't have much time in the book? Would you change that?

A: Paige for sure. She came across as a stereotypical bully in a lot of scenes, but in my head she has depth and a whole life - she has reasons for why she is the way she is, but I never got to show that in PT.

Q: What helped you thrive in completing this story even when you felt like you didn't want to write or if you had writer's block?

A: Writing the first draft took like a year but it was my love for the story that kept me going. Very few people were reading it, but I had a vision I really wanted to share.

Q: If you could spend the day with one of the characters from the book, who would you pick?

A: EEh I have no idea, it's such a weird thought for them to be "real" haha. Probably Hunter though. I think he's cool and wise beyond his years.

Q: Is there anything you would change about the book? (ex. ending, characters, etc.)

A: Yeah, lots. Most of the ideas in there are still from 2015. I would tweak the ending, remove/rewrite cliches, etc.

Q: (~ bonus): anything you can tell your readers about your upcoming novel, a sequel, Every Broken Promise?

A: Not atm, sorry!
