Chasing Ami: A Guardian Series Book 1

Chapter 1: Normal Boring Day.

....Ami.....

"BEEP!" "BEEP!" The alarm rang annoyingly. I groan and try to shut it off without moving out of my bed. When I finally feel the alarm clock, I hit the snooze button but apparently it didn't stop. I get up and inspect the nuisance. I saw a note on it and read it,
"Hey Ami, this is your master! I want you to know that you should wake up when your alarm rings so I rigged it so you won't put it on snooze until you get your ass to school!" I growl, throwing the paper on the floor and walk into the bathroom to do my daily doings. I seriously dread today. It's Monday and its the worse day of all.

My name is Ami, I'm your typical 17 year old asian nerd. Though I'm more sarcastic and I can stand up for myself. I go to Averret High, the most prestigious school in the country. It has about 1000 or more students making it your typical high school with jocks, nerds, cheerleaders, misfits and so on. I only go here because it was close to where I live and the scholarship was pretty good.

Overall I hate the school. The students and teachers are too stubborn and stuck up. The school has a system where every student has to belong into a group so that they can have order in the school, and they assign teachers to watch over those groups so no one would break a rule.
Ridiculous.

I got out of the bathroom and started to dress up. I took out my BCX silver sequin sweater that my mom bought for me and I pulled out my dark blue skinny jeans tossing them on my bed. Then I went to my drawers to search for my bra and underwear. Why do girls have to have so many bra's? It's pathetic how girls have to wear and put on stuff that make them feel pretty.

After I was dressed, I put on my liner socks and grab my black Toms. I checked if I was missing anything and realized that I was missing my glasses. I went to my table and saw it laying on top of my laptop, so I grabbed them, sliding them on. They are really nerdy but I can't blame that I read too much at night which resulted in getting these.

Satisfied, I go downstairs to greet my brother Takahiro, who came back from college because his school got out early for their break. Lucky asshole. He smiles and ruffles my hair like the older brother he is. I slap his hands as I glare at him. He laughs and says,"Jeez. Can't you chill a bit? I'm not gonna bite you." I snarl and replied," I don't like it when you do that. I am not a kid anymore."

He chuckles, while grabbing his plate full of food and started walking upstairs to his room. Why does he have to be home? I roll my eyes walking towards the dining table greeting my okaa-san and appa good morning. They smile and each gave me a kiss on the cheek. Okaa-san grabs a bowl and opens the rice cooker to put rice in it and passes it to me. I thank her while I sat down and grab my chopsticks and spoon.

As I was eating my mom clears her throat, "Ami, I have a great offer for you. Since you are 17 and stepping into finding a job, I sort of made an agreement with Cynthia. " She stated carefully. I raise my eyebrows and gave a continue on look. She took that as she clears her throat and hesitantly says,"Well, Cynthia and I have always been friends and as a good friend, I decided to help her on a little issue. You see, her son has been failing his classes and he will get kicked off the team soon, so I told her you can be his tutor." I started chocking when I heard about Tyler and glare at her. I stand abruptly slamming the table, "What?! Why?! You know I hate him!" She sighs and looks at me pleadingly," But honey, she offers to pay a lot and she knows that you have good grades. She really wants Tyler to stay on the team and get a scholarship, so please do it."

This is ridiculous, she knows that I hate his guts and she still makes me do this. I was furious, angry and I didn't want to hear any other reasons but when I glanced at her, I knew I couldn't say no. Mrs. Mckinzy and my mom are best friends and they did so many things together and I understood that she wanted to help her as much as she could, because I would do the same things for my best friends. I sigh loudly and sat back down and nodded," Fine. But I won't like it." When she heard that her eyes started to gleam," Oh!!! Thank you sweetie! I promise you're not going to regret this!" I weakly smile at her but inside, I felt like screaming.

Could this day get any worse?
