In the time that passed after the carnival, Aurora had enjoyed getting back into her friendship with Bonnie. It had seemed both girls had been craving a connection to another witch without ever truly realising it. Aurora had spent so much time worrying about the bad things in her life, the various vampires and other supernatural creatures that crossed into her life that she'd forgotten the connection that came from being around someone who understood what you were feeling, and going through.

Honestly, coming back to town and being able to slide back into the friendships she'd had previously had been the best thing for the redhead, and even though the supernatural world was such a big part of all of their lives, it was nice to be able to have slivers of a healthy life in-between.

"You free today?" Jeremy asked while Aurora kept her phone propped between her head and shoulder in an attempt to get ready and talk. She couldn't suppress the sigh that escaped her at the mere thought.

"I wish. My dad was talking with Carol, and somehow I got volunteered to help out. I think he's even coming round. When I said I wanted a little more of a normal life, I had no idea it would involve such boring tasks."

Aurora knew she was full-on whining to Jeremy, but felt better about it after he laughed. She would have preferred to have spent her day hanging out with Jeremy, playing video games, but always one to honour a commitment; she knew it was inevitable.

"Any way I can bribe you to keep my company and not die of boredom?"

"You kidding? I'm just glad Elena didn't rope me in on it."

"Ugh. You suck. Truly, but I get it. Burgers on me after maybe?"

"Deal."

"Having fun?" Charlie, Aurora's dad, questioned with an expression that only made her shake her head at him.

"Oh sure, I love to paint... I prefer canvas and not a veranda or whatever it is I'm taking on. I sure appreciate you being buddy-buddy with Carol. I could have been playing a video game instead of right now."

Aurora proceeded to stick her tongue out at her dad, only to get the same response in return. Their attention was drawn to the teenage drama that took place nearby in the forms of Elena and Stefan.

"What's up with that anyway?" Her dad questioned in a curious tone as he shifted the box in his hands round. The redhead sighed with a roll of her eyes as she leaned in closer to him.

"Oh, you know drama involving a certain someone. They put on a good show, though."

Her father shook his head before heading off to where he was needed next, and Aurora was able to finish off what she was doing. She got a feeling of dread on her way to grab some lemonade, and it's there she witnessed Damon sputtering over the drink. The redhead cursed and realised there was trouble brewing, and she turned and headed off in search of either Caroline or Elena.
