Piggy Back Ride [Hinata X Kageyama, Fluff]

Hinata's pov

Being small is really difficult sometimes. Especially when you practice a sport where being big is a huge advantage. Like volleyball for example. But there are other daily situations where being small is a bother as well. I encounter those problems when I want to grab a book from the highest place of the shelf, when the train is stuffed with people and I can't hold onto anything because the loops where you can hold on to are too high up or when I go shopping for clothes and the XS size doesn't fit me... Being small is a real bother!

However, today began like a pretty normal day for me. I went to school, tried to not fall asleep because the class was so boring, fell asleep anyway, got lectured by the teacher and so on and so forth. After eight lessons classes were finally over and I could go to the volleyball practice right away. I was starting to feel excited so I packed up quickly and ran down the stairs to not be late.

Running down the stairs wasn't really a good idea, though, because I bumped into someone who was going up the stairs. We screamed in fear, I fell on top of him and because of that he fell backwards.
"Ouch... S-sorry! Oh my god, I'm so sorry! Are you okay?!"
It was then I realized that the person I bumped into was Kageyama. He groaned in pain and tried to sit up but didn't manage to do so because I was full on lying on him.
"You're heavy, get up!"
"Y-Yes! Of course! Sorry!"
I pushed myself up and held a hand out for him to help him stand up. He seemed to think about it for a second, eyeing my hand. Then he firmly took it and heaved himself up, tugging at my hand and causing me to almost fall over again. He caught me before I could fall and supported me.
"Don't reach your hand out if you can't help, dumbass."

He then proceeded to walk up the stairs. 'Didn't we have volleyball practice now? Where the hell is he going?' I thought.
"Hey, Kageyama?" I shouted out to him while running after him.
"What are you doing upstairs? Practice begins in 5 minutes!"
He then stopped in his tracks, causing me to bump into him AGAIN. I let out a sound of surprise when I made contact with his back. He then turned around and glared at me.
"You should really watch were you're going, dumbass."
"Don't always call me dumbass!"
"Tch! I just don't want you to get hurt..."
With these words he went away with a fast pace but I managed to keep up and reach out for his wrist.
"What... Did you just say? I uhm..."
"Nothing, just go to practice, I'll be coming too in a few seconds, I forgot something in class."
This time I didn't follow him anymore as he walked away. 'Have I heard it right? Was he worrying about me just now...? Or were my ears just playing tricks on me?'

I arrived at the gym hall a few moments later and quickly changed into my volleyball uniform before warming up and practicing some receives with Nishinoya. I had a lot of fun in practice, like always. Kageyama came in the middle of practice and got lectured by the coach. 'Why the hell did he take so long to fetch someting from the classroom?' I wanted to ask him why he was this late but I had no chance to do so because then the coach announced that we were splitting up into two teams and play against each other. Kageyama and me were in different teams so I couldn't approach him.

After practice was over we all went showering and changing. I was always one of the last ones to leave because I was taking my time. When I walked out of the changing room and into the night there was no one left. Or at least I thought so. Kageyama was standing just a few feet away from me and appeared to be waiting for someone. I decided to use this chance to ask him what I wanted to ask earlier.
"Hey, Kageyama! Why were you so late to practice today?"
He turned around and looked at me.
"Uhm... I... Hinata, do you want to visit the summer festival in town tomorrow??"
"H-Huh?! Where did that come from?? I thought you didn't like this kind of things!"
"W-Well...Will you go with me or not?"
I was starting to feel excited now. I loved the summer festival and eould be visiting it anyway but with Kageyama it would probably be much more fun!
"Of course! I'd love to!"
"Wait, really?!"
"Yeah, why not? I love this festival. But wear a yukata, okay? The atmoshphere there feels a lot better if you do! Let's meet up at around 9?"
"Uh,yeah. Okay, let's do that. Until tomorrow. See ya!"
"See ya!"

Today was saturday and I was already so excited. I didn't know why exactly I felt this nervous and excited at the same time. It was just Kageyama! Just Kageyama? Or was this the exact reason why I felt this way...? I had to get my act together so I changed into my favourite yukata that I only wear on really special occasions and looked at myself in the mirror. I thought I looked alright so I told my mom, I'd be heading out and made my way to the festival.

Kageyamas pov

Today was saturday and I was feeling really nervous the whole day already. I finally found the courage to ask Hinata out! And he even said yes! Oh my god, you have to be kidding me. This has to be a dream. I did it!
The only problem was that I didn't have a pretty yukata at home, just a really plain one that wasn't very nice. So I had to go buy a new one. I took the pocket money I had been saving for emergencies (and this was a huge emergency!) from my shelf and went shopping. After visiting a few stores I found a really pretty and rather cheap one that fit me perfectly, so I bought it. After walking out the shop, I felt really happy and relieved. Now I only had to be brave on this special night because I had a very specific goal for today.

There would be fireworks at midnight that will be really beautiful and romantic for all the couples that will come here that day. And I wanted to put all my courage together and kiss Hinata while the firework were shot into the air. This would be perfect and he'll finally realize what I feel for him. Since he's a bit of a dumbass and doesn't realize the small hints I give him, I have to show it to him in the bluntest way possible for him to get it.

A few minutes before 9 I put on my yukata and left the house.
