The heavy rain had left its mark on the moist earth..I had finally decided to grow some balls and sneak out of the house. Being the last child of 5 and a boy for that matter I deserved all the attention I was given on a daily basis. Mum had me 5 Years after my older sister Ashley ..being the only boy in a female dominant household had its perks but also its bad sides.
I was showered with gifts every single birthday of mine, I had multiple replica of stuffs I didn't even need. From laptops to PES to phones cause every single person thought of giving me the same gift each time it was my birthday and I had gotten used to the attention.
My teachers often referred to me as over pampered by my family because of the stuffs I brought to school and I couldn't Care less after all my parents can afford them so why not?.
Leaving my house at 11:28pm at the time seemed like a very sleek move from a teenager in the eyes of my friends or gang rather. The richest boys with the best stuffs hanging out seemed natural , but my friends weren't just rich and showing off. They smoked and did drugs, something I had to try sooner or later for fear of being called a weakling .
Dropping from my room window I tried to make as little sound as possible, hoping the dogs were asleep and wouldn't be rattled by the noise my nervous feet were making. Bumping into things and tipping gnomes over I was a nervous freak..fidgeting with my phone trying to keep a low profile.
Rrrrrrinnnng!!!!....my phone buzzedas "Asha" the name of one of my friend popped up on the screen. He had sent me a text asking if I was still down for our little late night escapade or if I had chickened out like a mummy's boy.
I scrunched up my nose as I frowned at the text determined now more than ever to prove him wrong.
I was no mummy's boy, I was a man! And I was going to prove it to all of them!!
Running through the cold night I had stuffed both my hands into the pockets of my hoodie silently praying no one had heard the loud crashing sound I made as I jumped over the gate.
Everyone had a personal key For the gate but I had stupidly left mine on my bed. But in my defense though I was in quite a rush.
I squint my eyes as an old school Toyota Camry with bright headlights sped towards my direction revealing my friends from school. With the sun roof open and Kendrick Lamar's song "Be humble" blasted from the car speakers.
Chris flung the car door open shouting for me to hop in since we had a long ride ahead of us and we had to get to the party outside of Winston before 12am.
As I got in I could hear Asha telling the guys he didn't think I'd come and he was genuinely shocked I made it.
"Pay up boys" that was Dylan from the passenger's seat stretching his hand to the back of the car as Chris,Asha and Xavier all gave him 50 bucks
"Son of a gun!! You guys seriously made a bet to see if I'd come or not?" I was kind of irritated . I had had it with these guys always making bets to see if I'd do some extreme shit with them or not.
"Sure did, now I'm a hundred and fifty dollars richer" Dylan answered with a smirk.
"Bloody Millers" Asha remarked with a frown. Not pleased he had lost yet another bet to Dylan .
30 minutes into the drive and Xavier had come to an abrupt stop opposite a bonfire and from where we parked, we could all see a large number of
Teenagers. Drunk, carefree, happy, excited. Leisurely walking around the bonfire. Some in small groups with red plastic cups in hand, some alone by the dark corners getting high on cannabis and some horny teenagers making out with strangers by the fire.
"Brethren, this is the life" Xavier screamed as he walked towards the crowd of woozy teens. The rest of the gang followed suit but I stood rooted in my spot wondering if I really wanted to be here in this place at all .
"Parker, aren't you coming with us?" Chris asked as he turned and saw how still I had become, unwilling to move.
I snapped out of my trance and called after him to wait up for me as I hurried behind him heading towards a totally alienated universe were only clueless Teens existed. No clingy mom, no strict dad, no over protective sisters. Just us. Making the best of our crimson night. What could possibly go wrong?.
