Heat.

Hurt was all I could feel. My entire body burned with pain. It hurt so much to even breathe.

What was happening to me?

I stopped screaming out in pain because it only drained away whatever little energy I had in me.

I felt a hand envelope mine despite the numbing pain, "Manik"

"Shhh. I'm right here," Manik coaxed.

"W- What's happening to me Manik?" I asked as another wave of pain hit my stomach. The pain was blinding. I've never experienced any pain of this magnitude before. I felt like I was going to die.

"You're in heat," He said as he leaned down and kissed my burning, sweaty forehead.

"What?" I whispered. I could feel myself losing consciousness.

"Rest babe. I'm gonna stay right here,"

That was the last thing I heard before it all went dark.

Manik's POV

She's in so much pain and there is absolutely nothing I can do about it. Useless is what I feel at the moment.

I held her burning small hands in mine although I know it doesn't do anything to ease the pain that she was suffering.

Heat is something that an unmated female wolf goes through. And it's really painful. Mating comes naturally to werewolves but if we try to resist it and go against nature, the female werewolf suffers from heat. And there is absolutely no remedy to it except cool her body down with cold ice packs or wet towels.

This sucks.

"How long is this going to last?" I asked Dr. Kapoor who was looking at me sympathetically.

"For another two more days, at least." She said.

"WHAT?"

I went around the bed and took the wet towel from the stand on the bedside and placed it on Nandini's forehead. She was sweating all over.

"Alpha, Cabir was here looking for you. It seems important." Navya said while walking in.

"Don't worry I will sit beside her and help her cool her body heat down," Navya said, urging me to check what was the matter. And so I entrusted Nandini to Navya and went down to see what was wrong now.

"Alpha... It's the Blue Moon pack. Alpha Abhimanyu just called and said that they've been attacked." Cabir said as we swiftly walked down to my office.

"WHAT!? Was anybody injured or worse?" I asked raking a hand through my hair.

"Not that I'm aware. They didn't take anything either. Suyyash thinks they were looking for something or that it was a warning or could be both," Cabir said.

Blue Moon pack has been attacked? That means who ever is leading the shadow wolves must have found out that Nandini is from the Blue Moon pack. But then wouldn't that person know of it already?

This was getting worse day by day.

Nandini is in Heat; Kiara is injured; our borders are not protected and ugh! these issues just keep piling on top of each other with no possible solution.

"What is this, Alpha?" Cabir asked as he picked up the letter that I received from the mysterious SW

"Alpha... SW meaning Shadow Wolves?" He asked as he examined the letter front and back.
